No, but you can start a thread about it: I did about books and DVDs! ;) :rotfl:

Err yeah I need to join that thread too... OH has more than 1000 DVDs and the vast majority of moving boxes recently were filled with books-and that's after OH gave four bin bags worth to charity!!!

I'm so pleased my post lifted you, Noelphobic!

I'm now ending my second year of the challenge, and whilst I've wavered a bit, we've gone in the right direction.

I've discovered some very good new products, have cleared nearly all my stashes and most importantly, I have thoroughly enjoyed the extra attention I've given myself.

There have been health benefits - improved circulation and a reduced risk of infection from breaks in dry skin in my feet/ankles. If only I'd known that pampering my feet every day would have had such great results, I would have done it years ago and probably not got the original problems.

I've enjoyed the online camaraderie from this thread tremendously, and wonder how those who no longer post are, sometimes they shared so much with us.

This year has been much tougher for me financially due to a drop in self-employed income, so I won't have exciting purchases to report; I seldom did! I like reading about everyone's ins and outs though, esp. the WIBA's.

I know I upset some of you earlier this year by commenting that the No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries focus sometimes got lost when there was a lot of chatter about what had been bought and not much mention of not buying! I did single out the beauty boxes in particular.
I upset several 'thread mates' whose posts I really value; I feel I would get on with them if we ever met.

I've got to apologise in part for that.
    It was hypocritical of me.

I don't need, in theory, to ever buy a fiction book again, but I probably will, rather than get one from the library. I do need to buy non-fiction books every so often to keep up with work related things. I buy more non fiction that is related to my interests than I do fiction, and really enjoy them. I love books, full stop.

Only you as an individual can truly know why you buy things and if the purchase really, honestly, truly gives you lasting pleasure and adds to your life rather than subtracting from it, then it isn't unnecessary.

I don't want to make anyone feel guilty about enjoying something.

I feel a bit bad about that, I wish I'd given it more thought and expressed it more sensitively at the time.

No news on my ill friend - will ring tomorrow. Thanks for your thoughts for her.

And mccullogh29, don't beat yourself up about our earlier discussions about the nature of the thread. We all partook. I certainly did! I think the fact that we can actually talk about this type of things instead of biting each other heads off like on some other threads. So have a fantastic start to 2013, mccullogh39, and all the other ladies on the thread! :D :T

I have however realised that I also hoard cleaning products!!:eek: Clearing out the cupboard under the sink I swear I've found a half dozen open cans of furniture polish, and as for kitchen cleaner sprays, bottles of bleach, bottles of carpet cleaner when we have hardwood floors :rotfl:

I have used up three bottles of cleaning product today, can I count them in my UUs? :A;)

I have the same problem. The other problem I have is that I don't actually use any of them very often - my house would be lovely if I did!

    I have some more uu

Dr Hauschka Moisturising Day Cream 5ml WNBA
Clarins Skin Illusion Foundation - Wheat 1.5ml WMBA but not in this shade
Lush Angels on Bare Skin cleanser sample pot WBA makes my skin so soft
  • One last UU for the month - the sample size REN vetiver hand and body lotion that came free with Red a few months back.

I WNB a full size one. Usually I love REN - the Moroccan Rose and the Neroli and Grapefruit body products are beautiful. But this didn't have much of a scent, and I do like the smell of vetiver.

Anyway, am not expecting any more UU today so I'll take this time to wish a Happy New Year to all of you.

I'd also like to say thanks, as well as helping me to cut back my spending the time you took to listen and empathise about the situation with my former fiance got me through some very dark days - and without going mad in the shops too.

Am hoping now life is going to be a bit more straightforward and I have lots of nice things to look forward to about the new year I can make spending a bit less of a crutch... time will tell!

Happy New Year to you all. I have enjoyed being part of this friendly thread this year and look forward to taking part next year too.

If you are having really dry hands this time of the year then I have found a brilliant hand creme, Johnson's baby oil.

All the best to you all for 2013.

Sending you all a big hug.

  • Uhm, head hung in shame.

Remember my "no more cleansing wipes" rant. I bought some today. It was a 50% off special in the drugstore. Balea brand: one apricot facial scrub, one bottle eyemake up remover, one tub 52 wet cloths and 25 in a resealable packet wet cloths. In my defense the scrub and one pack of wipes would have cost more than $12.99, so I did save something.

Then I had to go to another drugstore to pick up a prescription (the other one has the post office in it). Somehow I bought three Revlon lip products, two lipsticks and a combo pack with a gloss and moisturizing stick.

I'm heading straight to the naughty stair.

At least it's the last naughty stair before a brand new year :) Start again with good intentions!

    l!

I've got this and I hate it. Weird smell and it doesn't even moisturise that well. Leaves me feeling sticky.
