If he's worried, get him to name you as the driver, at which point his obligations have been satisfied.

Write to CEL saying that you were the driver, and then include some appeal or other. That way, it'll divert all the correspondence to you, at which point you know what to do with it all.
  • What should I put in the appeal letter? Would I be able to ring them and tell them I was the driver?

If you are the driver your dad does not have to ignore the fake ticket. You do :) .
He can tell you to pay it but you know that you needn't nor ought to and so you can respectfully decline his advice. Then when you have ignored the PCC til they've scuttled away you can tell him how much you've 'saved' or rather, not wasted.

Does it really matter the grounds for appeal? All you are doing is diverting their attention. And since you haven't told us the circumstances of the ticket, how can we say? It's almost certainly an unlawful penalty rather than a genuine pre-estimate of the landowners losses, though.

Don't phone, write (letter or email). A phone call "never existed" once you've hung up.

Just tell him you'll sort it. Then write, as suggested. He'll receive no further correspondence on the matter, so as far as he is concerned, it has been dealt with.

P.S. Can I have his address, please, so I can write to him, saying that a third party owes me money and so he must pay? This is no different.
  • Sorry, I was parked in the local KFC for 28 minutes I read the top bit of the sign which said parking was for 90 minutes it wasn't until I went back to have a look that I noticed it said no parking when the 'restaurant' was closed. About the not that easy part I was replying to Edward123. I just wanted to the attention away from my Dad.

So it was closed, meaning there can be no loss of business, due to a customer being unable to find a parking space.
