I can't remember whether or not I had to present additional ID for my driving test.

However, regardless of this, you have to prove your identity using a passport or similar to get a new provisional licence, so I don't really understand why some places refuse to accept this as proof of ID. Refusing old paper provisional licences I can understand, but not photocard licences.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

They checked my provisional with a UV(?) light and asked me to confirm my details at my driving test.

It seems silly you can't use one as ID. However, the idea of having one would mainly be for learning to drive I guess. There are better forms of ID to have purely for the purpose of ID.

Lloyds Tsb accept provisional photo card licences - Nobody accepts the old paper one anymore.
Financial advisor getting it wrong here?

RBS accepted mine when opening a basic account online a couple of weeks ago, even though it expired a year ago!

Not sure what your point is here - I know for a fact that a provisional photo driving licence can be used for either ID or address confirmation.:D
  • I phoned RBS to open up a current account one adviser said yes we do accept the provisional licence and then after 5 min i rang again and one said we don't. Seems like they are not even 100% sure about it.

Did you say it was the photocard version or not?

Why do you ring them every 5 minutes?

I went to barclays, natwest, Hsbc, Halifax, lloyds today and no one is opening a bank account with the provisional licence instead asking for a full one.

    Any Advice please.

    Thanks
