Paypal chargeback

I've no idea/experience of this but when I've had a claim the Parcelforce tracking is all that has ever been required. The tracking will show collection place, date and time in most cases.you are making the same mistake a lot of people make and mixing tracking with proof of postage.
For the OP, I'd add the Parcelforce tracking to as many places possible, on the Ebay page and on Paypal transaction if it doesn't already show there.
Also, if by any chance they find against you, keep appealing, calling them will help.
As Soolin said, this will not affect your credit rating, you don't have a credit agreement with Paypal so they can't post on your credit status. The worst they can do is find against you and then eventually take you to court. They won't take you to court for £50, but in the extreme unlikeliness it went that far, show all the evidence to the judge and you're unlikely to lose..0 -
Followed your advice and instead of scanning the pop, rang them and they asked me to fax it, which I did and they confirmed they received it. However had an email last night saying that I won't be having my money back as I'm not eligible for seller protection. Checked the t&cs and I defo meet the criteria so rang them yet again to see whats the matter. The advisor checked the transaction and admitted that she couldbt see what I wasn't eligible for protection and has asked the case to be reopened, however this is at PayPals discretion! How corrupt can they get0

It depends on how quickly you sent it. It isn't Paypal being corrupt. If a bank has got in touch with them and said there has been a fraudulent transaction on someone's account they are legally bound to get that back. If you have done everything that is part of paypal's terms then they will foot the bill but if you haven't then you will have to pay. Sad as it is this is the way of the world and if you sell online whether you are clearing out your stuff or a multi billion pound company, you are susceptible to fraud. As was said, sellers get far more protection now on ebay but they are still pro buyer. A lot of businesses have left ebay now because of this and it isn't the same as it used to be when I first started trading nine years ago. Unfortunately human nature is that if there are rules some will find a way to break them and spoil it everyone else. Such is life. Hope you get somewhere with Paypal.0

Yep as I said prev, I met all the criteria, and have since been told by an advisor that I met all the criteria. I'm not disputing that the chargeback has been made and I know there are plenty of unsavory people out there who pull these stunts. However I feel that PayPal haven't exactly kept their side of the bargain. If they aren't going to refund me then what was the point of me sticking to their rules as a seller? If I hadn't stuck to their rules I would have accepted the loss and just put it down to hard luck.0

Did you scan and upload the proof of posting, and have you appealed?
If proof of posting (not just the tracking) was uploaded you should be on the phone t them every day asking which bit of seller protection you did not comply with.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ive have a family member worried about a chargeback.
£200 item, buyer requested recorded - and its one of them dodgey looking emails. It was sent via fully insured courier.
3 failed attempts to deliver - buyer unresponsive - and feedback now made private.
I asked the courier via email, if they knew where the parcel was - and they said they would try again saturday. I didn't really want them to - i was trying to get it back.
Anyway - now delivered - but looks well dodgey. Its taken 2 weeks, and not a word from the buyer. I told him he should at least have seller protection.
Judging by this case - i'm not so sure now

To be honest. The op in this case was unsure of the details and didn't do much to help us know what was going on.
From what I know/belive
To defend against a chargeback for unauthorized use of an account or card, the advise in this thread is valid. Proof of posting.
However, If the buyer goes to the card company (over Paypal - for what ever reason) and claims the item was SNAD (or INR), then I'm not 100% sure that Paypal will back the seller (which maybe what happened in this case).
Hopefully the op will come back and tell us the outcome of their appeal.

All unauthorised use of a card or other card chargeback can be defended with proof of posting. However paypal do not always follow their own rules and that is why I have continually banged on about making sure proof of postage is uploaded into the proper area of the dispute console. We all know tracking to delivery is better than mere proof of posting, but paypal are not logical or sensible, and their rules say 'proof of posting' and if they don't see that they will often find for the buyer. Stupid I know.
I have always won chargebacks with proof of posting, however I have always kept on at paypal quoting chapter and verse at them and pointing out that the correct documentation has been uploaded to the correct place.
One other thing I have noticed is that I have twice now uploaded info and it appears to have gone through but when I chekced later the upload failed and I've had to keep reducing the size of the file. If I hadn't been obsesssive about checking and phoning paypal I might have missed that fail note as I wa snot told that by email, it just didn't show until I checked where my document was.
My last chargeback in the summer took about 4-5 weeks before my funds were released even though they found in my favour within about 3 weeks.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I was just wondering, if this was to happen to me (fingers crossed it doesn't), I tend to arrange my couriers online, ie Parcelforce. So, in that instance, what would be my proof of postage as I wouldn't have a post office receipt?0
