    "
You may only appeal to POPLA after you have made your case (‘representations’) to the operator who issued the parking charge notice and that operator has rejected these and issued a POPLA appeal form.
    "

So says POPLA so no you can't appeal after you have paid .

It may just be the part of the quote you selected but it doesn't say you can't appeal after you have paid.

And I'm sure I've seen 'advice' (albeit poor advice) floating around saying the way to deal with private parking tickets is to pay them and then appeal. So upon appealing to the PPC, even after paying, should they still not give you a POPLA number etc?

It was homebase carpark.if id have known or even heard of this problem i wouldnt have paid.im not dumb but was really worried id get the bigger fine.im not a weak or gullible person and im not goin to drop it until i get a refund.its the principle.popla say u can get a refund if uve paid. If ive neva heard of car park companies before why would i not believe it was genuine?the letter has a vat number, registered office etc and looks totally legit.im goin to try homebase today.thanks:(

For what it's worth here's the CEOs email address for Home Retail Group who own Homebase.

    terry.duddy@homeretailgroup.com

I suspect your chances will be slim but I know from personal experience the email does get to Mr Duddy.

  • Im going to try everything to get it sorted

If not ill park in their carpark again for the next month to get my moneys worth and ignore the letters g24 send me!

If thats how it works and they cant touch me then ill play them at their own game.

Think ill email homebase now... Thanks again

Ps i did see it on popla that they have to refund any money paid within 35days when they take the investigation on.

Unfortunately it's been estimated that between 30 and 60% of people believe that they have received a proper parking ticket and pay up. That's how these companies make enough money to stay in business. It's the job of this and other forums to educate the public about this scam.

  • Ive spoke to other people i know who are usin this car park and sime of them have been charged too.

    Someone paid like me too.

No one seems aware of it but i came on here after someone told me i didnt have to pay. Too late in my case.

I had to search google until i came up with this site. It should be made more public so we know about it. I feel like puttin posters up in the car park warnin them not to pay.

Its makin me ill and im losin sleep over it. Im not lettin it drop with em.

I really wouldn't allow it to make you ill. If it is then just drop it and learn the lesson.

As for making this site more public, if you google "g24 parking" MSE is the third link.

The scam has been on numerous TV shows including Watchdog and in numerous papers. I'm not sure what else we would be expected to do except maybe run prime time TV ads ?
