  • went to sainsbury yesterday at 7.20am. was 16th in queue.:j "plenty of bags left", i was told:rolleyes: ...despite the fact that sainsburys opened at 7.15, was made to wait for the bag outside, in the cold. (the things you will do for a recycleable bag..LOL):rotfl:

as of 7.45am, there was still 5 bags left. at 8am prompt, all the bags has been snapped up. Feel a bit of resentment toward people who came at 8 and still manage to get the bag,..while i was made to stand in the cold. :o Some girls got there at 5am, and have been sitting there ever since. So, i dont feel too bad after all. :p

I have no idea why i went for the bag. I've not evern heard of it until 23rd when all you MSE created a thread specially for it..LOL. :rotfl:

will give it to my best mate as a surprise ;)
  • and yeah..do be careful about the guy selling the bags on gumtree. Highly suspicious, me thinks.

my friend in manchester was contacted someone thru gumtree (not sure about the locality) and was told to transfer some money into a bank account. was advised against doing so by the bank. (i dont think she'll ever get the money back if she did).

If you really want to lose your money, give it to a charity instead.
  • Just interested to know how busy the Oldham store was for these bags if anyone went?

as i said previously i was goin to keep my bag but the handles were too short for me. i know there were bags going for over one hundred quid on ebay but when looking at the bid history of some of them i suspect some were artificially high bids to push up the price. i put mine on with a fifty pound reserve and would have been very happy with that . it sold today for 65 so i am over the moon!!:T

I'm really disappointed in the number of people who are using this site to make a quick buck to the detriment of fellow money savers who are kind enough to share their money saving tips.

The fact that some people are buying bags that they don't really want (when many others do) simply to sell them, I think is really sad and it's certainly put me off sharing in the future.

hi. im sorry if you were dissapointed , i really am its crap quite frankly that there were so few but i think theyl make more. as for people using thread to make cash on ebay - surely thats what this is all about ( ok maybe not specifically ebay ) but people who come on here want to save money AND make money, in my case to pay debts. just for the record i knew about the bag before i came on here always intended buying one but as i say it doesnt suit my needs. was glad to have made cash to go toward paying off my overdraught. and if someone was willing to buy it then that is just life and business isnt it. im not takin advantage of anyone i got up early and got one , some people would rather stay in bed and pay extra.

and i dont see how buying a five pound bag instead of reusing an old one for free is money saving really. lets face it we all like a bargain and we all like to make a bit of cash when we can. folks shouldnt feel ashamed

  • Well I look at it like this. If they're going on ebay for £70 and you queued early because you really want one, paid a fiver then you've saved yourself £65! That's moneysaving!

Well said hun. This is what I do for a living....I dont make a fortune by any means but the money I make on Ebay pays the bills and keeps my car on the road. I recently managed to get 4 pairs of the awful....ummm, I mean gorgeous!!!...Topshop high-waisted corset jeans that were so in demand, and made about £200 profit on Ebay. Then the Protect and Perfect, I have sold 6 bottles and made a fair amount from them. And yesterday it was the Anya bags. I got 2, sold them both and now my car will get a shiney new tax disc and my son can have a new pair of trainers.
I have heard alot of people saying it is outrageous that people sold their Anya bags on Ebay, as some people really really really wanted one purely to use as a shopping bag because they are so environmentally friendly etc etc. If that is the case surely these people can pop down to Primark, buy a jazzy canvas shopping bag for 2 quid and use that instead.
I have no problem admitting that I really really want one....because it will make me feel good knowing that I have something that other people want (human nature....lets be honest. And isnt that what Designer brands are all about???) but I need the money more.
Do I feel bad about selling my bags....Nope!!!
2008 gig list... Nickelback + Staind (OMG...Staind ROCKED!!), Roger Waters, Infadels, Pendulum, The Police, K T Tunstall, Breed 77, Biffy Clyro....oh, and Motorhead :D
  • yep , gotta agree, Im keeping my bag (for now) because I like it, but to all of those who critiscise selling them for 100 quid etc., I'll say this.........if someone had told you that, if you were one of the first 30 people to arrive at Sainsbury's, give them a fiver and they will replace that fiver with a £100 note, wouldnt you have jumped at the chance?:confused:
