The plan for the rest is a mix of cutting expenses and upping income. I've made £3k in the £2012 in 2012 challenge this year, so i'll try to match that again in 2013. And there should be £1-2k or so overtime available through work, not a massive amount but it'll help. And then i'll attack outgoings as hard as I can, bills, groceries, that sort of thing. There's not a huge amount of scope here as we're already pretty careful with what we spend, but maybe enough to see me to the finish line. So in summary i'm aiming at:
£7200 - normal savings
£3000 - 'up my income' challenge
£1500 - overtime
£1500 - cutting outgoings and thrifty shopping
£1500 seems like a lot, but really it's 'only' £125 a month which isn't huge. Fingers crossed
edit: just to add it depends a lot on your starting point too, our outgoings were substantially higher a few years ago before the 'lightbulb' moment of finding MSE and TMF. So for the 'me' of 2007-2008 i'd have tackled outgoings before trying hard to up my income, because there would have been easy pickings there. These days there's much less scope for reducing outgoings as we've done so much already, so my focus this year has to be mostly on increasing income.0 -
I work part-time 3 days trying to fit another job round it plus I am hoping to get a promotion.
I am 23 still living at home. Wanting to get a deposit for a flat instead of renting.

I sell stuff on ebay, plus do overtime and work and extra job at the weekends. I also do surveys for a bit of extra cash.SPC #1813

I am a temp and get paid weekly. Each payday I will put anything I have left in my purse into the savings pot. I will also put anything I make from sales on ebay etc into the pot also.

Hi can I join in...I will aim for £6000 half that amount. The most I have saved before is £3000 so I'd like to try double that.
