Budget Car Hire double charged

We haven't had any problems renting cars in the US in the past bar coping with persistent agents trying to sell additional insurance when we went to collect the vehicle.
This year we were pleasantly surprised to collect the car without having to deal with this as the agent confirmed everything was ok as we had prepaid directly with Budget in August when we booked the car. We paid £249.28. It was the quickest collection process we had ever had in Orlando.
We returned the car at Orlando on Saturday and the agent there confirmed that there was no damage to the car and that we had returned it as required with a full tank of petrol. She then handed over a receipt for $579.25. I converted it to about £362 and queried the figure. She pointed me to the Budget kiosk and the guy there said the higher figure included "estimated non taxable products/services". I disputed this as we did not agree to it and it was removed from the receipt. The final figure equated approximately to the amount we had prepaid so I was happy with that.
UNTIL I checked my credit card online today and found that my credit card was charged again (£237.61) on Saturday .
I don't understand how this can happen when the contract has been prepaid and of course their customer services line is only available 9 to 5 and I have to wait until tomorrow to try to resolve the issue.
Has anyone else had this happen and if so can you give me an idea how long it took to resolve.

Good luck, the same thing happened to me in Spain, I had booked through a broker so had the talk to the rental company/talk to the broker round and round game. Then the no speak English bit .
Eventually raised a disputed charge with the bank and although they got nowhere they did pay me the money back as a "goodwill gesture" after almost a year.
Hopefully yours will be more straightforward.0 -
Well called Budget and they apologised profusely and explained that the original pre-payment had not shown up as it should on our booking. Then they told us they had to contact their US office to get them to refund the overcharged amount and they couldn't give us a timescale.
