You see, i don't understand why you would order an English breakfast in a New York hotel. I'd want an American breakfast, i can have all the english breakfasts i want at home.

Doesn't a typical American breakfast have more or less the same items as a 'Full English'?

Eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, Coffee etc etc............!

    Not really, you can get

Pancakes, waffles, maple syrup, grits, biscuits, steak, hash browns etc.

  • Think yourself lucky you got some food. My partner and I went shopping in Morrisons last Sat. Decided to have a meal in the cafe.
Stood there waiting to be served, and the girl behind the counter was telling the man in front "We ain't doing lunch" He said "Am I not able to order anything" She replied "No"
We just left the pots of tea we'd got ready on a tray and walked out.
This was just gone midday too. Shame, I really fancied a Christmas dinner.

You shouldn't have a Xmas dinner in November. That rude assistant saved you from committing a massive social faux pas.

You should write her a letter of thanks.

We've never been able to get decent bacon in the US either.

I used to work in Italy a lot and one time in a high end restaurant/hotel in a town called Muggello I ordered steak, chips and salad, the salad arrived and I was left alone until I ate it and then they brought the steak and after Id eaten that the chips, I asked a few times to have it all together but they looked disgusted.

Similar happened to me in Spain (was out for a chinese). Ordered a salad, plain rice and a chicken dish. Salad arrived and i left it to one side and chatted while i waited for the rest. A few minutes later the waiter asked what was wrong with the salad. One explanation later and he looked genuinely confused at my request but said no problem and brought the rest out.

I wondered for quite a while if eating a plain boiled rice was considered normal out there.
