OH and I were in another town this summer early one evening and spotted that the cafe at a big Morrisons on a retail park was still open.

As I low carb for my diabetes I can't eat toast and sausages with a high filler content make me feel woozy. I ordered eggs, bacon and mushrooms and I was charged less.

I've done this at Sainsbury's several times and my food arrived on one plate. At Morrisons it arrived as it was cooked on separate side plates so I got mushrooms followed by bacon followed by eggs. Weird.
I remember when I stayed at the Paramount hotel in New York and asked for a English breakfast the next morning. The guy on the phone said "Sir, does that consists of kippers?" I said no, Sausages, Bacon, Eggs, tomatoes and beans and toast.

Lo and behold the next morning a massive trolley appears and I have like 6 separate dinner plates consisting of about 5 rashers, 5 sausages, 5 fried eggs, 5 slices of toast and plate of tomatoes and a big plate of beans, all on separate plates, I was flabbergasted. Thankfully breakfast was included. They dont half do things bigger in the states

There's a good reason why they are the fattest country of any size in the world.

You see, i don't understand why you would order an English breakfast in a New York hotel. I'd want an American breakfast, i can have all the english breakfasts i want at home.

Those restaurants (mainly in Spain etc) who proudly announce "Full English Breakfast served here" make me laugh. You're not at home, go with the flow, be a bit daring. Try a breakfast that doesnt involve a litre of oil, and bacon that tastes as though it's never been anywhere near a pig.

You see, the great thing about the US is that, like the UK, it's a free country and people are free to choose the breakfast that they happen to feel like on the day.

Exactly a person shouldn't feel ashamed if he visits a different country/culture and insists on specially ordering an English Breakfast that is not usually made at the venue.

My only concern is whether the hotel were also able to provide a sun newspaper and pint of Carling :)

  • I never get to have a full English breakfast at home, mainly because I'd be the one cooking it and doing all the cleaning up afterwards, so I make a point of having one whilst on holiday. Besides, English breakfasts taste much better when you are lazing about in other countries.

I used to work in Italy a lot and one time in a high end restaurant/hotel in a town called Muggello I ordered steak, chips and salad, the salad arrived and I was left alone until I ate it and then they brought the steak and after Id eaten that the chips, I asked a few times to have it all together but they looked disgusted.
