Christmas Eve food - what do you do?

Yes, you don't want it bubbling out of the top, especially if your not home to keep an eye on it. Pork is a fatty meat so it will disolve quite easily to fill the pot. Drain the meat well on a rack after cooking so the remaining liquid fat drains away.
Thanks sobie! :T

I do Christmas and Boxing Day meals here so we pile round to my Mum & Dad's Christmas eve where we have a goulash or beef bourgignon with rice and broccoli and a cheeseboard to follow

Simple and easy with little washing up and no plastic containers to find homes for

I think I'm doing pasta bake again this year. It was my clever idea I think it was last year. I go to my parents' for Christmas and they cook the turkey in the evening on Christmas Eve to save time on the day, so doing something like that doesn't take up much worktop space, they prep birdy while it cooks and when we take it out the oven is heated ready for the turkey to go in.
I've told mum we should get Christmas shaped pasta for it
Then before that on Pretend Christmas Eve with boyfriend I think I'm doing risotto, not sure if we will get anything special for then.0 -
Christmas eve at my mum's house is for a present each (chosen by her) and a few light bucks fizz type drinks. The real event happens on Christmas day! Soo looking forward to it this year

For the last two years we have had our traditional Christmas Turkey Dinner on Christmas Eve for just us (6) and had a buffet on Christmas Day for the whole family (15 of us). That way I can enjoy with the whole family on Christmas Day. Previously I found I was in the kitchen whilst all the gift giving and games happened. This way is much more enjoyable as I can join in with the fun!! I asked for feedback on doing it that way again this year and they all confessed they preferred the buffet (except dear sister who misses the gravy on Xmas Day!!!)0
