It all seems so straight forward for everyone else they apply for jobs and get interviews, get jobs, they sit their exams and get good marks and no matter how much I try, I just always seem to end up with nos and poor marks.

    1) maybe other people apply for jobs they have experience in- and thats why they get them

You probably end up with poor marks cos you spend almost 100% of your waking hours on MSE posting whatever when you sohuld be channeling your efforts into something more productive. ie DOING SOME WORK FOR YOUR DEGREE

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

I have experience of working with dogs and working in a library. None of which I can directly get a job in, so I am going to have go for jobs slightly outside my experience. My mates who have got jobs in accounting know nothing bout accounting or have never worked in it.

I think I wrecked my degree in 2005 so it is all a bit late now away.

Thought i'd come on MSE to see how you doing with our so-called bet! From your posts you have been on most of the day - very disapointing you cannot keep a promise which you said you must keep!

Student Loans went in a week or so ago, you going to contact martin to pay your £50??..

If you turn round when the exam results come out and you've done crap i will have no sympathy for you.

You mentioned a few posts ago about those poor homeless people on the street with drink and drug habits, you've got something bad aswell, internet addiction!!

Right back to doing some important revision for me!

I screwed my degree up in 2005 so it will be crap whatever I do now.

Now thats the spirit! You should of quit then!

Though in my course its weighted 80/20 in favour of the final year so the 2nd year makes any difference. Alternatively if you get say 4 2:1's out of 6, you've got a 2:1 regardless of the other 2 units. Perhaps you should check the rules at your uni before you think like that!

Or perhaps you can get out and earn that £50 by doing any job you can get!! :money:

Mine is weighted 33.33% second year to 66.66% in the final year but considering I got 40's in my exams in the Christmas of year 2, I was stuffed for a 2:1 from then on.

I am not a quiter and I have stayed at it.

If you can become a legal professional then I think I can aim for a good job too.

If you were that bad or failed your first year they would have thrown you out! Anyway you shouldn't think back to 2005 now, you could do well in your final exams if you only knuckled down to it and do some revision. Do your best now and only look forward after you have finished the exams - there is absolutely no point in the what ifs now is there phil.

Now you have got to get into some sort of routine, organise yourself, plan your revision and stick to it. Don't stay on here until late hours and then come back on following morning spending hours wasting time - you really should be getting to bed earlier and focus on your work.

If I remember correctly I averaged 62 in my first year but that was because I did electives in management which made it so good.

I think my lack of sleep is part of my run down feeling.

I have done well in some modules in fact I have got 5-6 marks above the module average in some cases, but I just come crashing down into low 2:2 or thirds in other which wipes out my good mark.

I have done some mindmaps and charts to revise from.

As an employer I don't really care if people have a 2:1 or a 2:2 if they're right for the job.

Some do, some don't. Don't make assumptions. Generally 2:1 is an indicator -if other skills are right, it doesn't really matter. You don't sound like you are going for highly competitive milk-round jobs, so I'd stop worrying.

    Library experience is good.

Dog-sitting is a small income while you look for other work :) And after your finals you might be able to volunteer with dogs at RSPCA etc.

Now - get back to the mind maps!

It was fun working in a library and I really enjoyed it. But I can not see it resulting in a proper career as library jobs are few and far between and I don't have a degree in library science, so I can not see it leading anywhere.

    Ahhh....

    more, "yes, but..."

you aren't going to succeed until you turn your "yes but"s into "why not"? and 'how can I best'...

I have suggested reading for you... but not until after your finals :) Will post after your exams.
