Slither99, What race is a person that lives in a caravan?

A bit like saying AUDI drivers are *****. Is that also racist?

Now now, no need for "racism".

At least, that's what the cops told me when there was a spate of vehicle crime in my area. The fact that there were a lot of caravans parked nearby and several stolen cars (one of them being mine) were found stripped bare near where they were parked was immaterial; the fact that I was using a racial stereotype in suggesting responsibility may have lay within was totally out of order and I was the worst human alive for even mentioning it.

In other words, typical cop attitude of being scared to try and do their jobs so decided to criminalize the victim instead as they're all push-overs!

You're not fit to be a foster parent either! :D

    It's a diesel, fit a decat pipe.

No issue for MOT even under the new rules, because the presence of a cat is only tested for cars subject to a full catalytic emissions test (which diesels aren't).

Almost certainly a lot cheaper than £400*, and no incentive for anyone to steal it again - except maybe your neighbour when someone nicks his cat ;)

    * if you're reasonably happy with spanners, a 6' length of exhaust, a couple of clamp-on sleeve joints and 4 U bolts will set you back about £25 = £30 at your friendly local factors ;)

Diesels have particulate filters and are worthless as scrap, as suggested just bypass it, far cheaper than a new filter.

Nah, modern diesels have CATs which are valuable as scrap, we've had a spate of thefts from vans around here

Just as an aside, you haven't had an influx of caravans in the area have you?

Had to smile at this because a whole field full of them moved in overnight a couple of years ago.....just down the road too!

Oh thank you for making me laugh, I'm still mad as a box of frogs but feel better for enjoying the humour offered by posters to the thread.

We may well have been able to get a replacement if we had time on our side, but only have one car and a very important hospital trip tomorrow so have had to just go with the easy, but expensive option.

As a small aside, :D does anyone have any thoughts on the insurance side of things?
