Two of my granddaughters came to my house after school today. The elder one (aged 8) wanted to bake. so we decided to make a cherry pie as we hadnt done pastry for a while. I am not feeling too well so warned them they would have to do it with 'minimal' help from me.
ok, we weighed out the ingredients and the older one started to rub the fat in - she did ok with a bit of reminding to hold her hands above the bowl.
the younger one (aged 4) watched carefully. when older sis started to roll out the pastry little one wanted to do that - so we let her.
She placed her hands on the rolling pin and then proceeded to roll using her hands and arms! I have only ever seen professionals do this! I cant do it and have been making pastry for about 40 years! she rolled it nearly perfectly!
I am wondering whether she was a pastry chef in a former life or simply watches cookery programmes on the quiet!:rotfl:

and the pie? it was delicious actually! the pastry was lovely!
(it was cherry pie and I told the kids it HAD to be eaten with ice cream!)

Blimey Meri, the 'moved' link in it's place doesn't even lead straight to your post, I read halfway in 'hover' mode, looking forward to the rest of the story and had to search for you, ridiculous. Someone is going mad with the housekeeping today. They even moved that poor mother's thread about her SN daughters periods from mums to relationships, surely it was the perfect post for the mums forum.

Anyway, do you mean she pushed the rolling pin with her hands and arms, or did she use her arms and hands as a rollingpin?

Glad you all enjoyed the cherry pie, yuuuummm.

she put her hands flat on the rolling pin and 'pushed' the pin forward then carried through using the underside of her arms!!!!!!! she then turned the pastry and did it again! I was gobsmacked! tbh I have only ever seen pastry chefs do this and then it was with icing!
she made a fantastic job of rolling a circle! she is only 4! me and her sis just looked on in amazement! and gave her a round of applause!
