Anyone not doing christmas?

Hi there,

anyone not doing christmas due to money?

i am not buying any presents for anyone. i have told everyone this and have told them not to buy for me. i appreciate that some people will & i will have the "i feel bad" feeling that i had last year...BUT at the same time..i have warned them.

i feel like if i didnt do it properly & tried to do little presents...i'd feel cheap. so not at all..shows im skint!

We are having a roast dinner at home on the day with just me and DH. got wine discounted through the tesco 3 for £12 + 25% off so we're all set.

i just wondered if it was just us scrooges or if there were other people in the same boat?

I'm not doing it as I'm on my own and have to work 9-5 Christmas Day so I'm boycotting this year :(

Not really a question of money-more the desire to limit the sheer drudge of getting back on track Jan-April next year after paying for 2 mots, car tax, car servicing, household insurance and heating oil-most of which arrive pretty much in the same month and most of which are substantially more expensive than last time round. Add in school christmas fetes etc and it is a bit much. We will get something small for children but otherwise concentrating on having a nice dinner and plenty of time relaxing. I much prefer the idea of Christmas without the stress of presents-given or received. So much less hassle.

I'm not doing it as I'm on my own.

Probably like last year I'll dig the bike out and go cycling for as long as it's daylight and try to forget the whole miserable time of year.

We are doing it, but on a much reduced scale :).

You are all still 'doing christmas' - you are just doing it in your own way.

  • I wish I didn't have to bother with christmas, I always get everyone really nice presents and only get rubbish back or nothing at all.

I wish I could just stay in bed and not get up all day. Sorry just not feeling christmassy this year :(

we are 'doing' christmas this year but nowhere near the grand spectacle we have had in the past....the kids are getting much reduced gifts dh and i arent buying for each other and we have bought friends and family tokens such as a box of sweets

im not really sure why as we have the money to pay for it ...i just think our little family will be better served with money in the bank next year rather than being skint...reason enough i suppose

to peeps on their own could u volunteer at a shelter or church do ? might make u feel better about the whole thing

op hope its ok for u
    onwards and upwards
