All you can do is ask nicely.

But - your daughters exam certificates were due and you didn't set up the redirection in advance? Crazy...
It takes 5 working days for RM to get the redirection process sorted and it's not always clear that completion *will* take place on x day until the last minute. OP could of course have specifically mentioned to the new owners that these certs may arrive at the property in the meantime or perhaps contacted the sender of the certs directly and asked for delivery to be delayed until the new home address could be confirmed for definite.

I don't think anyone said they would be reissued for free. But you certainly can get them. For something so important an early redirect to a relative or po box would have been cheaper, then another redirect or changeover to new place.

Anyway you are relying on the new owners. You cannot force anything do the nicer you play it the more luck you will have

If this is the case, with something that important I still wouldn't have left the mail to be delivered to the house http://www.royalmail.com/delivery/inbound-mail/keepsafe

So you contact the delivery office and organise a temporary hold
this would require proof of address/identity

Keepsafe is no good. it ends with the mail being delivered

Mail coolect(which is free) is the option to use if a redirection wont be used
of course it relys on the OP being relatively local

The fact you did post redirect late is not the buyers problem. If I had in my new home lots of notes coming through my door from the previous owners I would be pretty peed off.
You've asked and it's down to them if they want to do anything about it. But now leave them alone.

2 1/2 years later we are still getting post for the ex owners...i just return to sender for most of it..We get about four or five letters a week for them..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
  • You can get replacement exam certificates from the exam board for between £20-50 depending on exam and board.

If the ex-owners were turning up so often and leaving notes I'd be !!!!ed off too.

Whenever we've moved, we've always made sure that our post is redirected in time AND all authorities, banks etc as well as family and friends have our new address - yet we've always received post for previous occupants for years afterwards. This is very annoying to say the least, especially as we're very careful to stay off spam mailing lists - unlike most people it seems, as we receive an incredible amount of catalogues and spam mailings for other people...

The fastest way to make this stop? Put it all right back in the post marked "not known at this address". And yes, we've had previous occupants knocking on our door asking for new bank cards(!) that would have arrived a few days earlier - tough!

If I'd promised to give post to the neighbours and then just not bothered I'd be embarrassed enough to be dodging contact
