What you mean to say is that Google will point you to sites that tell you just to open another account as ebay won't notice.

What usually happens is that this is OK for a while but by some strange co incidence just when you have a new thriving account, possibly hundreds of pounds tied up in a new business- ebay ban you for life- no appeal no messing about.

I do believe techspec may have a point about ebay getting a kick out of upsetting people sometimes. The threads we have had on here with banned users happily managing on a new account for years and literally on the day they take delivery of a thousand pounds worth of new stock they get banned. At that point their paypal goes too and they have to wait 180 days for their funds to be released.

It might be just a co incidence, but the bans always seem to happen just at the worst possible moment.

There are ways to open as many accounts as you like. If you have ten working accounts, it doesn't matter if one gets taken down. Aslong as your accounts arn't linked in any way there will be no knock on effect.

We all have lots of accounts, that is not new news and is allowed on ebay. You just cannot use any other account if banned on one already.

The problem is though that with any information the same it *will* get picked up. So unless OP is planning to change her name, move again, set up new bank accounts and get her ISP details changed she is rather stuck and needs to concentrate on appealing to ebay, frequently and with emotion.

The very fact she would need to link a bank account that she can prove is hers but which has a completely new name and address is rather bordering on fraud and not a great way to start up with a clean slate on ebay.

I've just started with a new broadband provider and was immediately asked to confirm who i am by Ebay. So clearly this confused Ebay - and does seem to suggest they go off the ISP address.

But i am often told turning your router off and on has the same affect. Is that not true?

There was a recent story on here where an Ebayer decided to save their Ebay money in paypal, for a special event. Although this is not a good idea - unless you have had your account frozen, or are a regular on here - you would not necessarily know this. Paypal chucked them out and kept their money for 6 months. What company throws someone out for trusting them to look after their money? Paypal said leaving money in paypal was suspicious. Like i said - they are Nuts.

It might be that their account suddenly listing all that sort of stuff raises eyebrows and prompts a manual review. It wouldn't surprise me if eBay don't mind the odd item being sold on a new account but would make sure to check on who is uploading new stock of that value, given the massive potential for shady business.

I am usually the first to defend paypal- but I am happy to say I never leave anything more than a few pounds in there . In fact I would happily clear it twice a day on 'Good' days rather than even wait until after close of business.

You would need a new bank account yes, in your own name of course. You cannot lie to a bank, thats fraud.

If Ebay supplements your income, or is your main income stream, why be at ebays mercy and have all your eggs in one basket? There are perfectly legal ways to open as many ebays as you want. All completely seperate accounts. So yes you need different i.p address' per account.

If anyone has been unfairly thrown off ebay or account is at risk and your sick of worrying, then do a simple google search. I'm only saying this as I was unfairly banned (for listing too much too soon, seen as a risk) so I know how unfair the system can be.

A bank with the same name and address as the banned user *will* be picked up eventually.

  • Paypal can't get your address from your bank.

They also will never see the name on the bank account IF you never transfer money from your bank to paypal. They only see the numbers!

Op if you're reading, take note.
