If they did, and they have no right to..... It still wouldn't amount to £3000 a year ;)

A little off topic but if they wish they can charge, it's a modification to the car after all and the general consensus is that they should be notified to avoid problems with any potential claim.

As for 3k, not sure that's relevant, op asked about the deal... It really is up to them how they spend their money, it's up to you how you spend yours (or not).

Why Diesel? NTec+ petrol start stop gives you similar real mpg and the vehicle costs around 1.5 - 2k cheaper.

Well I have been wondering about the Diesel V Petrol debate especially as Diesel seems to be getting more and more expensive than Petrol.

I looked at the Which results and the Diesel was a best buy.

Also as far as I can tell the MPG stated for a car by the Manufacturer doesn't actually seem to be the reality according to many reviews I have read so I am finding it really difficult to do good comparisions !

I am going back to drive a 1.6 stop start next week so I am still in the consideration stage of what I truely want to get.

As far as I can work out on the deal they gave me it would cost me about £700 a year in interest payments...plus about £3000 in payments plus servicing £100. Plus the £3100 deposit. So £4800 a year as leasing I guess as I wouldnt own the car.

Isn't it better to buy a car outright all be it it wont be a new one ?

TBBH, I've got far better things to spend £250 a month on.....

I have the bank balance to buy a £20k car outright.
I drive a 2004 Vectra, does all I need it to do and has cost me next to nothing in repairs for the last 4 years, aside from new tyres and £120 for bits of exhaust, makes 4x4 drivers look like complete idiots in the snow thanks to winter tyres on a spare set of wheels. Serviced by yours truly, in top mechanical condition, has never failed an MOT, even the MOT inspector said it was in really good nick just a few weeks ago.

Sure it doesn't impress the neighbours, but one day ill be 90 years old and !!!!ing in my pants, might as well get used to not caring what anyone thinks while I can still enjoy life.

Shhhh! It is punters like the OP who create the used car space where you can pick up a newish car for almost 60% off. I really welcome them because that means I can enjoy a good car but someone else will take the hit of almost all the depreciation.
  • Hi,

Strangely enough i am looking at buying a qashqai too, but the +2 version.

All the research i have done points to the 1.6 diesel engine being much better. This is in driving experience, reliability and eco credentials.

It might be worth looking into buying a model with that engine

Seems to me if you can get the new car 2k 3k or more off going into a dealers then this seems to negate the drive away depreciation issue. I have also just found out that Nissan are doing 0% Apr deals so that seems like an added incentive if wanting a PCP deal. You can also get 3 yrs free servicing apparently.

What do people think about the buying Verses PCP option ?

Thanks. Yes I have been looking into this one and with there being 2.5K difference in the price between the Petrol and Diesel its now looking a better bet for me. I am test driving one on Wednesday with the Stop Start option. Which is the one I am thinking of getting.

I am still getting quotes in so I can make as informed choice as I can.

  • Why not lease 1 for the same monthly price but only pay <1K deposit? Unless you plan to pay the end balloon payment and keep the car ....
  • Is there any details on the 0% finance deal?

Being a tightwad the current 6.9% finance is holding me back from buying one, i want to keep it for 10 years so the lease plan is not suitable for me.

    Thanks
  • Also i have noticed that some of these online middlemen look to push you to their own finance rather then the nissan finance on offer?

Before taking on finance, consider what will happen if your in an accident and the car is written off. I know several people who are driving around in poverty spec old bangers and still paying off the car that gotten written off 2 years ago, because the insurance only paid out for the market value.
