When at the Nissan Garage this afternoon they offered me their special offer for a New Qashqai 1.5 Dci N-Tec+

The deal

Payments : £249 x 36mnths (£8,229 final payment)
Deposit : £3100 (excludes £2000 Nissan contribution)
Cash Price : £19,900
Amount Borrowed : £14,800
Total Amount paid by customer : £20,293

That is all the information they gave me.
Does this seem like a good deal ?
I have never had one of these types of agreements before is they any room to negotiate with these types of deals ?
How do you work out the interest on this they seem to have neglected to document that ?

What was the price of the car?
Find out this and then compare to an online broker, drive the deal, orangewheels etc. chances are they will be cheaper and you will still be able to take advantage of pcp deal etc.
Have you decided you want a qashqai? Have you looked at others in same group, Kia sportage, Peugeot 3008 etc?

A quick scan showed orange wheels are at £17600 + metallic

Have just ordered a Kia sportage via them, all they did was take my contact details and then the same day the Kia garage called. I would take some time to look around at all Internet brokers and see what they are offering, remember to ask if you will be first registered keeper or if it's a preregisterd car

Yep looked at almost every crossover around

Went for sportage 1.6gdi (petrol) trim 1, so entry level really, reasons, bigger than qashqai, had a touch more room in the back for 2 car seats and an adult, slightly more "modern" styling in my mind, and quite high spec for the price. I think the boot was bigger in sportage also. So it ticked more of our boxes of needs, the 7 year guarantee had a fair bit to do with it as well

Our deal was £250 ish a mth
    2k deposit
    Future value was around 6k
That included fitted front and rear sensors, 3 year service plan and metallic paint

TBBH, I've got far better things to spend £250 a month on.....

I have the bank balance to buy a £20k car outright.
I drive a 2004 Vectra, does all I need it to do and has cost me next to nothing in repairs for the last 4 years, aside from new tyres and £120 for bits of exhaust, makes 4x4 drivers look like complete idiots in the snow thanks to winter tyres on a spare set of wheels. Serviced by yours truly, in top mechanical condition, has never failed an MOT, even the MOT inspector said it was in really good nick just a few weeks ago.

Sure it doesn't impress the neighbours, but one day ill be 90 years old and !!!!ing in my pants, might as well get used to not caring what anyone thinks while I can still enjoy life.

I take it that is just the 4x4 drivers who haven't fitted winter tyres to their 4x4s? Some do, you know. ;)

And that's great for you, you have the freedom to choose where and how or how not to spend your money, it would be great if you considered that others may have differing priorities.

I'm glad you have a great runner, I'm impressed by you serving it, but to be honest I have no inclination to learn, I would rather pay to have this service carried out by someone far more competent than I. I would rather invest the time with family, to me that is more important

Your points re 4x4, I think op and certainly I was talking about 2wheel variants of these cars. You may be surprised that in 20 years do driving I have never owned a 4x4 and never put on winter tyres.....and never had an issue in the snow/ice. Presumably you have let your insurance company know about the modification... Did they charge you more for this?

As for enjoying life, I would suggest most people considering buying a new car and financing it at £250 a month can probably still enjoy life . Oh and I too could afford to buy the car outright, but I choose not to

If they did, and they have no right to..... It still wouldn't amount to £3000 a year ;)

  • Why Diesel? NTec+ petrol start stop gives you similar real mpg and the vehicle costs around 1.5 - 2k cheaper.
