Help needed in my concerted effort to get debt free!

Dumbledore, what a horrible experience! I felt sick just reading about it. Glad it's all resolved now and it must have felt wonderful when the money arrived in your bank account. Wonderful to have your debt-free date so soon.
I look forward to reading a calmer update next time.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Fantastic going! What a stressful time though for you and your daughter - grrrr at those incompetant buyers. I would have been tempted to tell them where to go, but just not possible I guess.
Will your next challenge be to clear the mortgage? I bet that won't take you long, given how fast you're going with the CC debt!
Sea xxx
Thanks for your support.
You're right, my next challenge will be the mortgage once I've cleared the credit cards in December. But I really want to have a bit of a life as well so I'm probably going to set myself a 10 year goal to clear the mortgage which will be £92000 owing by then.
I would be more than happy to be mortgage free in 10 years and have some good holidays. I don't think I'll ever lose my thrifty ways though, I've spent 3 years developing them and its now a learned behaviour and I've become a complete bore lecturing my friends on money saving!0 -
A 10 year goal sounds pretty good to me.

Update slightly early this month because I'm just about to set off to my Mum's for a couple of days and then a week's holiday.
All is looking really rosy financially, and I've been able to change my debt-free date to 21st December 2007 - my birthday!

A fairly peaceful August in terms of money worries so I've managed to stay firmly on track with my plans. I'm putting the money to pay off my final credit card in my savings account so I can benefit from the interest between now and December. At one time I'd never have had the will power to do that but thanks to being re-chipped by this site, it's not a problem.
I'm now looking at small ways to bring in a little bit of extra income just to keep things comfortable. Quidco, mystery shopping, survey sites and Ebay have all become a regular part of my life. The best bit about it is that I'm now doing them through choice rather than necessity!
I can't recommend this site enough for anyone with money worries - it completely changed my life!0 -

Slightly late with my update this month - been working 13 hour days for the last 6 days. Totally shattered and got an interview for promotion tomorrow - my boss just loves keeping the pressure on. Working from home today because he's gone off on his holidays and I need to get my head ready for the 2 hour promotion process.
I will be given a subject and have 40 mins to prepare a 10 min presentation, then the presentation and the rest is questions about the presentation and general questions! My stomach is already tying in knots at the thought of it!
On the money front, all is going to plan and I know you shouldn't wish your life away, but I can't wait to be debt-free in December. :beer:0 -
December is so close :j Your posts are a real inspiration for me. Good luck with the promotion. If you are anything like as focused and determined at work as you are with your DFW process then you totally deserve it! :TOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 315 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts:money: LBM #2 - December 2017 - total £17,663.75 DFD - January 2023 :jDD - £500; OH - £7889; Barclaycard - £5135.29, Halifax - £1725.50, Plumbstop - £2226.62, HMRC - £187.34Contingency Fund - £10/ £10000

Thanks Lotte - messed up the promotion interview I'm afraid - nerves got the better of me and the long hours leading up to the interview meant I hadn't practised my presentation as much as I'd have liked. Good job my boss has been away, he might have got it both barrells if he'd been around.
I won't give up though and will try again next time round but this time I won't allow him to work me so hard!!
On the money front I'm feeling really positive so perhaps 2008 is going to be my year!
Lotte - your debt when you started was a similar size to mine so just follow the tips on here, keep perservering and you will achieve all your goals. You're doing it the right way, one step at a time. Well done!0 -

October was a good month financially, I've been E-Baying like crazy and have made over £100 profit towards Christmas Shopping. I'll be heading to Boots now for the 3 for 2 gifts so the vouchers will probably all be gone next update. Finally got some money coming from clickthroughs - £25 from Pure Profile - think it took nearly a year to accumulate it but it wasn't very time consuming so easy money really.
Bad news was that I didn't get the promotion I went for - nerves got the better of me like they always do.......anybody know a good cure for nerves for next time round?
Finally, I have got myself a Capital One cashback credit card - 4% for the first 3 months and then 1% after. It feels totally amazing that a credit card company is now paying me money instead of me paying them interest and the fact I don't have that feeling of desperation when a 0% deal is running out scrabbling round trying to find someone to let me have another one. :j
Keep going everyon else, it just takes perseverence and discipline and you MUST follow the good advice on this forum.0
