My DFW Diary by ShinyShoes

I've done some calculations .... we would be £230 worse off if DH stayed home.... but he would still be out and about in his car, probably more so than when he's at work, I know what he's like!! If we were entitled to benefits it would be an obvious choice, but due to my salary the government aren't going to help me even though I could do with some help.DFW Nerd 1447 - Proud to be dealing with my debt!

might be worth a go...............When my DS was little i had a job in the evening, it was tiring but worth it so we didn't have to pay child care, I still do a second job in the evening but it's not regular but every little helps!!Having a Consumer Holiday 2015:A0

This week I met up with a recruitment agent - I was looking on Reed website to see what my salary should be and saw a job nearby that had good money on 3 days a week to become full time in future. Perfect! I met up with recruitment agent yesterday who said it had gone :-( she also said I'm onto a good deal at my work as I'm getting full time pay for 4 days work, she would find it hard to match as normally if you want to work 4 days a week you get 80% of full time pay. So I think I'll settle in to my 4 day week routine, and then have a chat with boss to see if he'll consider reviewing my pay.
My baby has started his settling in sessions at the local nursery, he's doing well so far. He starts full time 4 days a week next week. I still feel very guilty about it but I have to work.
I've tried talking about the cost of childcare in comparison to DH's wages .... don't think he quite gets what I'm getting at. He's one of those guys you have to plant the seeds to it becomes their idea as he doesn't like to be told what to do.
I've sold a few things on eBay and now have £65 making its way to me, I also sold a couple of theatre tickets for £50 cash. It's enabled me to buy my son a lovely Jumperoo for Christmas (second hand of course!).
I've calculated what I think my salary will be over the next few months and now need to prepare a budget and see where that takes us. I've told DH that if I can't pay c/cards I'll do a DMP, he's not too happy and thinks I should just work more. Fingers crossed it works on paper!
I need to sort a signature out on here ....DFW Nerd 1447 - Proud to be dealing with my debt!

That's not quite right ....ShinyShoes wrote: »For the hours work, I'm intending to do nearly the full time hours but spread on less days.
Although you're working over 4 days, you're doing nearly FT hours over that time which is why you're still getting (or nearly getting) FT pay.
So .... basically, you are getting paid the same as you would if you were working the same hours over 5 days (hope that makes sense?) & you're not getting paid more per hour.
When looking around - and especially important to compare part time with full time - check what the hourly rate is and use that to compare to the hourly rate you're currently being paid.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Todays cheaper spends come from the land of second hand pages on facebook. I'm picking up a bumbo and tray and highchair and tray all for £20.
Next to look into is the TV, Phone, Internet package - we currently pay £58 a month for the whole lot + a few calls. I'm trying to convince DH to drop the TV element as free view will be fine but he's not so sure. It would save us £36 a month. Or we could drop the HD for £10 a month as I can't really notice much difference if I'm honest.DFW Nerd 1447 - Proud to be dealing with my debt!
