I didn't sleep well last night, a mixture of having a cold and worrying about money. I know if we can hang on until Feb 2014. I've managed to find the cash for the upfront nursery fees, I have an old current account which is used to top up paypal account, it has a 2k overdraft so I'll have to use that to enable me to pay the first month upfront and deposit. I've found a childminder nearby but she charges £5.50 an hour (the day nursery is £5.35 an hour so I may ask if she's able to drop her price slightly. It's a bit cheeky I know.
Next on the list is to review my post office credit card, at the moment the DDR is for 10% of the balance. I'm hoping to cancel this so I can pay the minimum for the time being as I can't stretch to 10% at the moment.
DH is start to feel down about money too and feels he is the cause .... he was unemployed for 6 months which did have a big impact on our finances. Our accounts are very separate but I manage our money together. He works 5.5 days a week for a £20k salary and we're waiting for the CSA to tell us how much they'll be taking off that too - something that's not been factored in my workings :-(DFW Nerd 1447 - Proud to be dealing with my debt!

I've just been shopping - and opted for a lost of Asda Smart Price items instead of the usual supermarket brand. Let's hope DH likes them as he's a sucker for labels!DFW Nerd 1447 - Proud to be dealing with my debt!

I think you need to have another chat with your OH - he is basically working for £144 / month .... how much of that is then used up with costs of getting to work etc?
Try approaching it from a short term perspective ieShinyShoes wrote: »unfortunately we don't have family near by to look after DS. It needn't be forever but until your DM moves closer and can help out and / or the loan's paid which frees up more money.
Sorry but it just doesn't seem to make sense to me to be paying nearly one full wage to cover c/care costs - there are also other savings that can be made having one partner at home all the time that would also cut bits off your SOA.
Also, think of the wonderful relationship he'd have built with his son by then - not many fathers get to do that .... and priceless - IMHO worth much more than £140 / month! (there's more ways of providing for your family than money ........)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

I'd never looked at it from that perspective .... it's quite sickening. He's a bit old fashioned and feels he should be out working to provide for the family, and he hated it being out of work as he said he felt like a slave to the house. I will mention it to him though.DFW Nerd 1447 - Proud to be dealing with my debt!

im not pregnant or anything by hubs & i have discussed when we do and finacially it would make sense for us. i am the main bread winner and he is out of work t the moment & is a self emplyed tiler so never regular work. I was very suprised that he was so happy to do it based on the sensibility side of it. not the man pride side of it.Facing up to things - nov 2012 total 9334.95
