Looking for a soup that tastes as nice as Heinz, without costing as much as Heinz.

  • I like Aldi's Soupreme Cream of Tomato - about 42p a can from memory. The Oxtail isn't bad either but my favourite is the Pea and Bacon one. It's not branded Soupreme, it's something slightly more upmarket *cough* and it's lovely.

I make my own soup all the time, but like to have a couple of tins on standby for work lunches etc when pushed for time.

I did have a recipe that was supposed to taste just like Heinz tomato. I'll try to find it on the other pc later. Apparently the secret ingredient was a pickled onion! Maybe other readers have seen it somewhere?

It's the Slimming World one, it's the nearest I've ever had to Heinz.

  • Heinz Condensed Cream of Tomato Soup 860g tins are currently available from approved food for 60p each (9 servings once diluted).

Obviously these are heavy & postage has to be taken into consideration but you can get 25 tins into a 25kg parcel so with standard delivery 25 tins would be £20.25 incl P&P/81p per tin or 50 tins would work out at £37.50 incl P&P/75p per tin.
