  • Hi Steph :) I read through your whole diary yesterday, have subscribed if ok? My DH sounds like yours we constantly row about him spending like water. Like yours he's the bread winner and i stay at home with the kids so he think he should be able to spend 'his' money the way he sees fit!

I'd love to live in the country and be more self-sustained like yourself and as someone said previously (sorry can't remember who) you might have a few tough years ahead but after you've gotten rid of the debt and set in place emergency funds you'll be fine :) you'd regret giving it all up I reckon!

How's your college course going? My smallest child starts school this September and I'm considering teaching :)

Well done for halving the anti-d by the way, after my initial enthusiasm post-lbm I too ended up on anti-d's I felt like a zombie the whole time (dose was way too high I think!) So I hope you continue to feel better. I also went awol from mse for a while didn't accrue anymore debt but I didn't debt bust as well as I could have :o I'm deffo glad to be back here with all the support :) xx

    Hi DFW321,

Thanks for subscribing, what you mention about your DH being the bread winner is our exact situation. Hubby seems to think I spend a lot of money, but its mostly on kids clubs, kids clothes, farm bits and pieces, what he fails to notice is I don't spend ALOT on just myself :(.

I had to quit the college course, it turned out that DH earned slightly over the bracket for me to be able to get the training for free and they want nearly 1k for it. So I had to quit....

I am cooking up other ideas at the moment, but nothing in the immediate future.

I seem to be doing ok so far on the lower amount of "Happy Pills", the side effects seem to be lessening, so the higher does must have been too much for me to cope with.

Thanks again for subscribing, will have a look see if you have a debt diary xxx
  • :)Morning Diary,

Have tried to have a productive day today.

Thought I would list some things I want to achieve this week and I can cross them off on here as I do them.

[STRIKE]Always have Washing on line (Good weather week)
    Keep Kitchen tidy
Make pasties for picnic watching Cricket tonight
    Strim Veg Plot
    Sort out pumpkin Patch[/STRIKE]
Weed veg beds & sort netting
    Weed Polytunnel
    Harvest Tomatoes
    Harvest Carrots
    Pot on Strawberry plants
Dig up last of early potatoes
Make lots of Marrow Cakes and freeze them
(Taste like a poor mans carrot cake)
    Tidy up Polytunnel
Weed kill around house flower beds and try to gain control again.

Well looks like I have enough for the next month, let alone this week .

At least weather is good xxx

Phew it doesn't look like I achieved much, but I haven't stopped. Ds has his Tutor tomorrow morning but after that I should be free to get some more done.

Off to watch Hubby play cricket tonight, we are having a little picnic with children so should be fun, hopefully.

Meant to be going with a friend to the @Bristol Science Museum Thursday but abit scared as to how much its going to cost

Hope everyone has had a good day x

Sounds like things are going well for you at the moment, sorry to hear about the college course though. Everything happens for a reason, it'll all come good in the end Xx

Oh no, I think courgette (marrow) cake is loads better than carrot. It always comes out moist and stays that way, carrot can be a bit dry sometimes. It's one of the recipes I'm missing at the moment (all my cook books are in storage :()

    Hi Steph,

I have just read all your diary over the last couple of days and have now subscribed!!!

We are a bit similar in that we have live on a lovely small farm and have our own sheep and raise our own lambs each year for the freezer. We also had two pigs last year which are now in our freezer as well!! The main difference is that our farm is in Northern France!

What makes it even harder for us is that I work in England during the week whilst my husband stays in France with our four kids. So he has to do everything on the farm during the week and then at the weekend I come home and just try and play with the kids all weekend.

We are trying to be more self- sufficient but there is always something else to buy or fix on a farm. And trying to pay off our debts at the same time is hard work and is one of the reasons why I work in England during the week!

Anyway I wish you luck with your paying all your debts off and keeping things going on the farm!
