low usage dongle broadband

Now I am free from Three I have learned much about getting free broadband all over the place. However, I would like to have mobile access from home every now and then.

So I went to a few highstreet shops and they are talking about a tenner for one or two gig for PAYG. I already have two dongles, nothing but a basic mobile phone - as I had to explain to one shop assistant.

All I am after is a SIM card which allows me to go online. How hard can that be?

Many thanks in advance.

Samba if you can be bothered.

£5 sim card and earn your credit watching adverts, I'm almost 1GB after a few days general surfing & popping back to watch adverts inbetween.

    Have you unlocked your modems?

If not you'll have to use Three anyway. You can buy a 1GB/1 month SIM for £5 or a 3GB/3 month SIM for £11.

Thanks for your replies (I also like the grumpy one, probably PMS). It is not hard to search if you know how to do it. This board is such a maze and has not been updated for years.

I did not know dongles have to be unlocked. You just stick a new sim card in, do you not?

    Thanks,
    Andrew

So you didn't click on the link in post #3 then?

Yes, of course I did. Thank you for the link. However, after a fight lasting months with Three documented here

I am not sure how enthusiastic I am about them.

I had my 3 dongle unlocked then purchased one of these...

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/T-Mobile-12-Months-FREE-Internet-SIM-10-Credit-for-Calls-Texts-Plug-Play-/290818356484?pt=UK_Mobile_Home_Phones_Sim_Cards_CV&hash=item43b61ff504

Had it for 4 months now without problems. Just make the odd call now and then to make sure it is kept active. As it has £10 credit it's a doddle.

I don't really see how your other thread is relevant. You buy the preloaded 3GB SIM, insert it into your dongle and use the data. 3 generally have the best 3G network and buying preloaded SIM's is the cheapest way, especially if you already have a 3 dongle. Can you find better?

Thanks, but I thought it was obvious. No more Three for me. Not one penny.

Thanks for this. I wonder how you got to that sort of credit. They keep showing the same few ads all the time and 80% are expired.
