  • Unfortunately, none of the over-the-counter tablets work for me. Have an appointment with doc tomorrow.
Any advice/experience with any prescription tablets to discuss with him would be appreciated!

I know it's a bit late now but for anyone else with same query you could try fexofenadine (Telfast) tablets as these are quite effective in people who have tried OTC meds with no success.

I bought a few packs of Cetirizine (Zirtek) last year pretty cheap, and looking this year I see that it is cheaper to buy in bulk (10 packs x 30 tablets minimum) - so it would be worthwhile getting together with fellow sufferers and sharing the cost.

    Cetirizine (Zirtek) Tablets:
    pack of 7 (minimum purchase = 3 packs) = £0.79 (11.3p each)
    pack of 30 (minimum purchase = 1 pack) = £2.19 (7.3p each)
    bulk pack of 30 (minimum purchase = 10 packs) = £1.49 (5p each)

They seem to be cheaper still now. £1.29 for a pack of 30 (min purchase 10 packs).

I think you will find the pack sizes in Wilkinson's are 7s, as 30s can only be sold under the supervision of a pharmacist from a registered pharmacy:money:

As the hayfever season is welling on its way, we are ready to start our hayfever offering for the season @chemist-4-u. After last year success, we have decided to repeat the same low prices for the season.

 Loratidine (Clarityn) Tablets x 30 Bulk Buy @ £1.49 per box. Minimum purchase is 6 to qualify for this price.

We feel that these are the lowest and best value prices on the high street and web. Please let us know if you find the prices cheaper elsewhere. There is also the new Medinose, which would money save longer term (if it works for you), as an histamine blocker by using phototherapy electrodes in the nostrils.

We also have the branded goods on our site, IF YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY, but please await the generic fluticasone nasal spray, due out this week.

We have also added the highest factor clinical sun tan lotions at the very lowest prices under our travel section.

I had Telfast last year. I didn't find them any better than the Loratidine and I found they gave me a dry mouth and slight nausous feeling.

Prescriptions in Wales are now free so I get my Rhiocort nasal spray and Neo Clarityn from the docs on presciption and if my eyes start itching (doesn't happen every year) then I'll add that onto my prescription.

GP did say that they are reviewing the use of neo-clarityn as it's more expensive than Loratidine (also known as clarityn) and are asking patients if they find it more effective than loratidine. I find loratidine good but it doesn't last more than 12 hours. GP said I couldn't take double the dose so hence the prescribing of neo clarityn.

DD takes loratidine and it's very effective for her.

I haven't been too bad this year considering it's been so warm, maybe I'm going to start growing out of it at last.

Flixonase Allergy Nasal Spray Bulk Buy @ £4.99 per spray. Minimum purchase is 3 to qualify for this price.

Be aware that this is the smaller 60 dose spray.
My doctor prescribes me the large size, so it's cheaper on prescription.

Note also with C4U that there is £3 shipping with each order so 6 packs of loratidine will actually cost you £1.99 per 30 pack. My local chemist used to sell me dispensing packs of 30 for about £2.16. He would only sell 1 or 2 pack at a time though.

Unfortunately postage charges cannot be avoided anymore, as we can no longer put a packet of tablets in a padded envelope for the price of a first class stamp like last year, since Royal mail changed their pricing strategy. We have teamed up with APC couriers who offer £3.95 postage for as much as you buy, if you select the courier option.

We don't make anyy money out of postage
