Bargain Hayfever tablets

Options
Itch-free morning to you all!

Just got a great bargain in Boots for Hayfever tablets, so thought I'd share :)

I went in to pick up my monthly prescription of Loratadine (aka Clarityn!) and realised I'd forgotten to bring my slip... so went to buy the Boots' own brand pack...

Boots now sell a 30 day pack for £7.79 which isn't too much more than the prescription cost (£6.85) so I was quite happy to be able to get that... I was even happier when I got to the check out and found it was bogof!!! (This wasn't advertised on the shelf...)

So I got my summer's antihistamines (120 tablets) for £15.58 :D

This would have cost:
£17 from Savers (I think I heard they're £1 a pack there but I don't have one locally :( )
£27.40 on prescription
£51.26 if I was buying Clarityn at £2.99 RRP

Bonus! :T
:money: I heart Martin! :money:

    Hi Lisyloo

Can you tell me how much the postage is on these please. I got some cheap ones from wilkinsons last year (69p for 7) but they often ran out of stock so thinking about ordering quite a few packs from chemist 4u.

    Thanks!

    Mel ;)

On the site at the moment it says £0.00 for 1st class, so it seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Wilkinsons sometimes do BOGOF but as you say supplies are often limited because one or two people will clear the shelves.

Bit of advice - When you get your prescriptions ask for as many tablets as you can get. I use the benedryl plus ones and basically now i just ask the doc for 300 tablets on one prescription so i dont waste his or my time every month. They dont mind doing this but most people wouldnt think of asking for more than the standard amount. Some hayfever days are better than others and the 300 tablets last me the whole hayfever calender for me - all for the cost of one prescription. Much cheaper than paying £5 plus for only a few tablets. Give it a try and ask your docs!! Worth a go!

Good suggestion to give it a go, but anecdotally I have heard that many doctors DO mind and won't do it.
I think it's something to do with costs but I'm not sure how it works.

Asthmatic and suffer hay-fever and just found out that my doctor will only prescribe a month at a time and now they have decided that a months supply is 28 tablets (is this a wide spread thing or just my doctors rip off).

So prescription has gone up and the number of tablets has gone down - I have to pay for everything so will soon be having to decide what medicine to take and what to leave out.
    best wishes deepseeker :rotfl:
