Beware of 3 mobile fraud Galaxy Note 2 upgrade

The exact thing has just happened to me, I cancelled my contract almost a month ago, 3 were very pushy asking me to upgrade a friend or family member! I stated I was not interested as I have another contract already that is with 3!
Then this:
First message saying thanks for upgrading, 2nd message saying thanks for changing your address, third message stating delivery, forth message requesting SIM card activation!
I have called 333 and reported it and they say they will be in touch!
My address appears to be correct when logging into my3 online!
There seems to be a major breach of security for this to happen, and I'm quite concerned that it has happened.
I have searched online and it may possibly lead to a bad credit rating, hopefully I've caught it in time!!!0 -
All I can recommend is that you do everything in your power to stop that delivery. I suspect once the phone is in the hands of the fraudster Three will not be too willing to help. Even if the courier won't let you cancel the delivery to the fraudulent address (as their contract to deliver is with Three and not yourself), most will allow you to reschedule. This could buy you a couple of days to sort it out.0

I have a contract with 3 which is actually my daughter's phone. Kind old mum pays for her contract while she's at Uni. She called me to say she'd just received a text message thanking her for upgrading to a Galaxy Note II Ultimate @ £38 pm for 24 months. Now, I love my child but I'm not paying nearly £40 a month for her to have a swish new phone. She hadn't asked for an upgrade.
I called 3, as the contract is in my name, and reported the fraud. They said someone had called in to order it that afternoon. They also did not ask me for my account p/w but recommended I change it which I did. I then reported this to the National Fraud Authority by phone. They were very helpful and also stated that the crime would be against 3 as the victim. There is no such crime as identity theft in the UK, which I am already aware of. I passed them the address which the phone was requested to be delivered at - yes, East London, SE15!
The next day my daughter sent me two further texts for delivery time options and to activate the SIM. I called 3 about it and they stated that it had been raised with their fraud department and that the order had been cancelled. I told them that if ANY money for this new contract leaves my account, I will be seeking legal advice and reporting them to Offcom, and the FSA.
This smacks of insider fraud. Only a 3 employee would know that the phone contract was out of date. The issue will not lead to a bad credit rating so long as you identify it on your credit report and raise a dispute with the credit reference agency. They have a statutory obligation to raise the 'data error' with the data supplier (3) and correct it on your report.0 -
The other person I know that this happened to reported it to 3 called the Met Police got a crime number but still he got sent a return bag to send back phone and got told he was liable until they received it. I would make sure that you delay delivery and scream and shout at 3 customer services until they phone the courier and stop the phone going out.
I have now cancelled the contracts I have with the exec offices and I still got called a few days later asking me to reconsider and upgrade. My son was on a rolling 1 month contract with the one plan and they have managed to delete that and for the remaining notice period have put back to a contract which gives 500 mins talk time. It should be interesting when I get the final bill. They have to be the most frustrating and rude customer services both in the exec office and in the Mumbai office. I still am not 100% confident that these contracts will be cancelled.0 -
Hi everyone.
I too got a text message a few days ago thanking me for upgrading (when I hadn't). I called the call centre immediately and got the upgrade cancelled. They said I would get a call from their fraud and security dept. That same evening I got a text message saying that the parcel was on its way. I called them again but they said this was automatic - not to worry. The next day I got three text messages about delivery and SIM activation. I called the call centre again and the guy said he couldn't comment because this was being investigated now.
I eventually called a local three store and the girl was helpful and honest - she said they're notorius for doing this. She also said if it was going to be sent, it would've been sent to my home address. Also, she checked my account and said there's a note saying the upgrade had been cancelled but my "My 3" account hasn't updated to this (yet).
The postman hasn't tried to deliver any parcel to my address so I haven't signed for anything or received anything.
I then decided the next day I wanted to cancel my contract (which was up this month) and called the call centre again and was told I couldn't (!) because my account was being investigated and I would at the moment have to pay for early termination, etc; so I should wait for the investigation team to contact me - which should be early next week.
I notice that some people called the exec office....what's the number for them please - I've tried searching for it and got this number 08707 330 295 but it doesn't work....???
Can anyone else advise as to what I should do....very distressing this...0 -
I've said it before, 3Global Services in India(third party company of 3 who do customer service contracts), guess who has access to Voda UK customers details (customer care will be moving there beside Voda AU care) and Voda fraud started, its the same for Voda AU customers whom started getting these frauds after 3AU & Voda AU merged, as soon as 3Global had Voda AU customers details frauds started happening.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0

The exec office number is 08433 733 330 however you need to email them first to get a reference number and then you can call. Good luck as we never heard from the investigation team.0 -

But our contracts are all with 3 mobile and I agree this may happen everywhere but its how its dealt with and from my experience with 3 they are not very helpful. The customer service are meant to look after you, not make you feel that you have no idea whats coming next as soon as you have put down the phone.0 -
