Ukpc parking charge

Hi guys need help ASAP....
I parked in a car park last weekend not knowing that it was permit holders only.
Sadly returned to my car with a parking charge from UKPC?
Led to believe that these are possible scammers ie council and visa can only ticket you.
£50 within 14 days otherwise £90 after 14 days but within 28!!

Honestly do I pay or not had so many different answers and I'm ready to pay help needed ASAP!

  • So many different answers? How so? It's either
    • Pay - WRONG! :naughty:
    • Don't pay - CORRECT! :T
OK, there are subcategories of "don't pay", like appeal or not. Easiest option is simply not to pay, not to appeal, not to contact UKPC in any way. They can't touch you (despite what all their scary letters may claim). Your "offence" was that of trespass and only the landowner can sue you for that, and only for their losses of ... zero.

    DO NOT PAY!
  • I won't end up with a bigger fine etc then and even court dates etc. I just don't want to "not" pay and have a bigger fine all because I left it?

    Thanks for your help :)
  • It's NOT a fine. Even you have already discovered this. Yes, they'll try to increase the amount they want to extort from you. Eventually you'll get a 100% discount when they give up.

Of 1.8 million tickets issues in 2011, only 49 ended up in court. That's very low odds. And I don't think UKPC do court at all anyway (others will confirm).

Relax. Even if they were stupid enough to attempt court, as I stated, ONLY the landowner (so not UKPC) can do this, and they cannot claim more than they lost (which is zero). It's all a scam to scare you - nothing more.
  • What if its council owned the car park but UKPC issued the ticket?

UKPC don't "manage" council car-parks. Even if they did, it would be called a Penalty Charge Notice and not Parking Charge Notice. Have you noticed they have the same initials? Pure coincidence of course! ;)

  • Just been in contact with Flintshire county council and its privately owned not by the council. So again does this mean ukpc cannot ticket in these areas?

Anyone can place a piece of paper on a car. Whether it has to be paid is another matter. UKCP have probably been hired by the landowner to "manage" the car-park.

Just IGNORE them and UKPC will go away.
All aboard the Gus Bus !
  • If they have been hired then surely payment is due.... I'm speaking on behalf of my girlfriend who is pulling her hair out over the matter. I said leave it but as you no if its privately owned companies can be hired to give out tickets. I am unable to find out who owns the car park but it is 100% privately owned.

What do you all suggest.... MAKE NO PAYMENT?
