Not sure if this is the right forum?
Thinking about going for lovefilm or something similar.
My mate said he pays less for a dodgy one from Asia, he says he can get any film or series even brand new ones on demand.
Which is the best option?

Lovefilm is excellent for DVD/Bluray but for online content it is really lacking, unless you are into the older type of film!
It has hardly any new releases for streaming and some of the best ones are charged for, 2 months/5-6 films and you will be struggling to find something to watch, but as said the DVD side of it is excellent, post back a DVD and 95% your next disc is sent out the same day, and unlike some of the other options, you can send back one disc at a time, some others make you send a min of 2 discs in an envelope.0 -
The dodgy one your friend uses doesn't sound right to me, if you are going to stream illegally then you may as well go to one of the many free sites.
I use LoveFilm, I'm on the package with 1 disc at a time and unlimited streaming. I agree with sniggings that their streaming options aren't great and they have a lot of old stuff, although I tend to get new releases on Blu-ray anyway, so use the streaming for old films and TV shows. I stream through the PS3 and it works really well, even with my naff wireless internet dongle thingy. So far I have only had one faulty disc and I reported it online so they dispatched a new one to me without waiting to get the faulty one, and also sent the next thing on my list so I had two at a time to make up for the hassle which I thought was a good bonus.0 -
I agree with the above posters that LoveFilm doesn't have the best or most up to date options for online streaming. I haven't experienced the postal service myself but I've heard good things! Sorry I can;t be more help!0

What about NowTV? (No experience, although the advert almost makes it sound tempting). 30 days free, then £8.99 per month for 3 months, then £15 per month thereafter.

I could accept £8.99, but £15 is pushing it a little (IMHO).0 -
£15 seems a little steep when LoveFilm streaming only is £4.99 - they might have more stuff available, but worth an extra £10 a month?
I guess it still works out better than Sky Movies packages though. 0 -
Lovefilm is fast, I post DVD's on Monday morning, new one's arrive Wednesday, post Thursday morning and another arrives Saturday.
I have 2 DVD's at a time for £9.99 a month.0 -
LoveFilm is very good, but I would try netflix first!0

Last year I tried LoveFilm DVDs by post - great service and very wide choice. Recommended.
Earlier this year I tried Netflix which is online steaming only. The service and video quality are excellent. Recommended. The only problem is quite a limited choice of movies and TV progs.
A few weeks ago I started using LoveFilm instant which is online streaming. The video quality is like a second generation VHS tape, or worse. youtube can be 100x better quality and Netflix knocks the image quality into a cocked hat. To make matters worse, LoveFilm Instant's choice is probably even more restricted than Netflix. NOT RECOMMENDED. At least on Netflix you can adjust the streaming quality to suit your download speed. With LoveFilm, the streaming quality seems to be fixed on the lowest possible setting, with no means of adjustment.0 -

I have to disagree on the quality of streaming from Love Film. Have been very impressed with it and the speed that DVDs are sent. I would recommend it.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I tried both Netflix and Lovefilm for streaming earlier this summer and struggled to find anything much to watch. Caught up on a few oldies, but didn't see the point in continuing."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000
