The ISP has got different IP address mask and their cannot trace you because its against computer misused act 1990 and interception communciations act 2000 they cannot trace them under this act

I work for isp as a moderator and guide of a chat room provider

I suggest you don't even know what a net mask is.

    Droiderm:
As far as I was concerned, I did know what i was signing up for.
A website that looked genuine told me it was a free trial, postage only.

I'm not saying i wasn't momentarily stupid to fall for it. I am saying people like me a loads of others need effective protection from this kind of merciless deviousness. Consumers get such protection in loads of other countries but in the UK anyone can get away with just about anything.
My bank won't block payments to them even though they have a file an inch thick on this company.
OFT has a file to which it has now added my complaint.
Speedtest that ran the ad that took me to the fake website said 2 days ago they would remove it. They have not done so.
I complained to Channel four that their name was being sullied by this company. They have not replied so I assume they are not interested.
    Great. Thanks. A great help.

I get what you are saying. I assure you I am not a stupid person.
It was a moment of weakness. It is a sad state of affairs though, if one cannot have a moment of weakness without being shafted, and even sadder that it is almost impossible to do anything about it afterwards.

All you need to do is either contact co and cancel or talk to your bank (you have :T) and that is all.
While we would love to stop these co's at the moment we cant. But as far as you go, all you need to do. Is check your account. If they debit again. Odds on. Call your bank and get you money back :T

Only bonus you get is it costs these co for every chargeback and they lose the money..:rotfl:

    I agree with Somniac.
To make an analogy, let's say one day I forget to lock my fron door, does that means I deserve to be burgled and it's all my fault, or do we hold the burglar responsible for doing something bad. I'd say the latter.
Sure I'd kick myself if I didn't protect myslef properly by locking the door, but that's a failure to protect. It's the person committing the crime that is FULLY to blame.

If this is not the case then we'd have to conclude that every man that gets drunk deserves to get beaten up, fall in a river, get killed and every woman that gets blind drunk deserves to be raped, beaten and killed.

There is a very clear distinction here.
Failing to protect yourself is indeed not sensible, but the party who is responsible is the perpetrator not the victim.
  • However if you agree that the burglar can burgle your house when you leave the door open?

The person agreeing he can come in would be less than clever in that case.

Me too. Stupid people should be outlawed, just as they are in other countries.
