EXPIRED APPLE one day shopping event this friday

I was in the Apple Store on Friday and treated myself to a new iPad, having sold my iPad 1, and tried to get my student discount - ok its only about £17 on the 64GB iPad with Retina Display but I figured its better in my pocket than theirs. Well, I couldn't get it, even though I pointed out its available online... the girl told me that the Apple retail stores and online stores don't communicate so buying online is the way forward. As it happens I wanted the iPad, and I wanted it NOW so I bought it at full price (now kicking myself for not going to John Lewis and getting 2 year warranty).... but I'd buy anything in future online.
If you know a student, the discount is really good - but I believe (don't quote me) that the highest level of discount only applies to higher education students, not school students.
Education discount isn't available on iPads. It never has been.0 -
Shame no discount on phones but any apple discount is good if you were buying anyway. Now, who will price match ipad 4? John Lewis?0

Do we price match with John Lewis for the extra year's guarantee? Or is there another reason?0

I was just about to submit the form when I checked the iPad page again, and the price changed- they are now price-matching online automatically at John Lewis :beer:0

NICE! Thanks for this. I'm guessing it's the warranty that will swing it for most. 2 years vs Apple's 1 year.
Worth a mention that if you need a repair, John Lewis will send it away to be fixed typically taking a couple of weeks. Apple would give you a replacement there and then. Worth thinking about.0 -

Ahh I never realised that, but I'm still happy I bought it at JL as knowing my luck something would go wrong in month 13 and I'd have no cover left with Apple. Admittedly it was the 2 year warranty that swung it for me, lol. Thank you for the info though! x0
