Ahh I never realised that, but I'm still happy I bought it at JL as knowing my luck something would go wrong in month 13 and I'd have no cover left with Apple. Admittedly it was the 2 year warranty that swung it for me, lol. Thank you for the info though! x
No problem at all. I soooo want to buy one but just thinking, will it be cheaper before christmas? I think not but still am hesitating.
PS Personally I would go with John Lewis too as an extra year's warranty is what I'd get anyway and via Apple it's £60ish.0 -
Do we price match with John Lewis for the extra year's guarantee? Or is there another reason?
The other reason would be that we want to keep John Lewis on the high street! Great products, knowledge, customer service.
Also, JL have to buy the product from Apple and Apple as manufacturers must be making loads more money per product - they could surely also offer a 2 year guarantee if they wanted to? I can't think of many companies that manufacture and sell direct to the public?0 -
Bought the iPad with Retina display, white 32GB at just after 1am this morning, just had shipment notification from Apple :j :jwill sell my iPad 1 now I've got this one on the way

Just ordered a 32gb iPad with Retina display + wi fi (all 3rd generation have gone) from John Lewis for £438 to be delivered to my local Waitrose. 2 year guarantee and a 5 minute walk to go and get it. Simples. Thanks MSE for saving me some hard earned dosh!!0

Got the new iPad on the Apple site this morning

Debated long and hard about the (fantastic) JL offer of 2 years warranty, but after a lot of reseach on insurance (as we figured it was more likely for us to break it rather than it break itself) went for the Apple offer and got the iPad and case for less than the cost of the iPad originally

Not impressed, I got mine in the states and it worked out way cheaper than the sale today. I wanted a mini for me, so when DH goes to the states he will get it there. And he was told it can go back to any apple store in the world and they will help us if we have a problem.Has anyone seen my last marble:A:A:A:A

Sorry for a stupid question but everyone's talking about the iPad with retina display, is this the new new one with lightning connector?0

As far as my research goes its the ipad 4th gen retin display that has the lightning connector - the ipad 3rd gen retin display doesn't have - think the deals are on the 4th gen one..
I'm in dilema wondering whether any better offers will come up - not in desperate rush for one this side of xmas, although would be nice0 -

Hope he doesn't get asked to pay the import duty etc. Otherwise that could end up being a very costly iPad.
Be very careful...Customs are alerted to keep an eye out for 'gifts' being brought back into the UK especially at this time of the year, specifically from places where duty-free limits aren't particularly high

PC world are selling them cheaper than Apple and John Lewis. Although bear in mind only 1 year warranty. Should be 5% quidco on PC world ipad's as well.0
