Which broadband do I need?

Hello,
I am feeling a little clueless about which broadband to choose and I wondered if anyone could help.
At the moment I am using BT infinity (my ex's which will be switched off at the end of Dec). I have an old lap top and a phone to access the internet plus netflix via the Wii. Infinity is a bit patchy when downloading and does not work in my bedroom upstairs so I am not sold on taking out an infinity contract.

I just want decent wifi that works in the whole of my house and doesn't keep stopping when downloading.

I just answered a similar question so I'll post it here too, I have just swapped to EE and more than happy with it.




Check to see if you can get EE, phoneline and unlimited broadband for £16,50.

Check samknows site, and it will tell you who has services from your local telephone exchange, if you can't work it out, just ring up a few of the better deals on offer, or check on their site and they will tell you if their service is available to you and what the cost is, if they don't have their equipment at your local exchsange then the price goes up as they then need to buy the service from someone who has then resell it to you, which works out more, so it's nearly aways best to see who is at your exchange and buy direct from them.

No EE on there.

just to confuse you a bit more, EE never showed on mine and it was there so maybe worth giving them a ring.

Sky is meant to be good as it's unlimited and they don't restrict your speeds.

My choice going from that list would be EE if it's there or sky.

Are EE and orange one and the same now? My phone recently changed to being EE from Orange.

Any idea if Sky broadband can actually reach to the upstairs of a house?

I,m looking at EE as they are doing a great offer for Orange & T Mobile customers. How have you found EE so far. I can only get about 1.0 to 2.0 MB broadband, according to BT website. Unfrotuantly can,t check what EE offer but I presume they will offer similar to BT as they will be using the bt LINE

I have another daft question. If I pick someone other than BT can I keep my BT email address?

the coverage in your house is about the little box they send you, that sends the signal throughout your house, you must have a big house if you were stuggling with BT, but it's an easy fix, either complain and they will send out a better one or you can buy one yourself that will increase the coverage in your home.

Yes all 3 work together now, my EE account is on the Orange site.

not sure if BT close it or not but if they do it's an easy fix, always best to have an Gmail or hotmail email then you always have it, if you move.

Oooh, what can you buy that increases coverage in your house. I live in a very average 3 bed terrace so hardly massive!!:)

EE says I can get broadband but only 6mbps for normal broadband which sounds really slow.

Early days but I have found them excellent, they told be I would get 14mb speed before signing up and true to their word it's 14mb, they told me I would be live on the 15th Nov and at 2.30am that morning got an email to say I was live, the router was delivered the day before, they only problem I can see is they customer service, I had a small problem, turned out to be nothing to do with them but I had a run around with being put throught to T-mobile then EE, as they had it in their heads it was a mobile phone issue, but they were polite, and when they finally got it into their heads it was not a mobile phone issue I had sloved the problem my self, but as I'm up and running now, hopefully no need to ring again.
