robin - I do hope they will refund the cost of 'other' items you have had to replace personally. They are not just 'liable' for the school property - but for his personal items too! and dont let it drop!
But - you have quite a 'victory' there! WELL DONE!
Im sorry but if all parents took this attitude all the schools would ever be doing is replacing childrens belongings, its sad some horrible child decided that only way he can get attention is to be vile enough to throw bags in bin,
but come on this attitude is shocking,
its not the schools fault and they have little funds as it is,
and attitudes like this infurate me!:A :j0 -

And you think parents can buy new glasses at the drop of a hat just because the school make up stupid rules about designated areas and don't supervise it properly? If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

sorry but attitudes of schools like this takes the P>.
A school has a duty of care towards child and their property, if they set rules for all children to leave bags, clothing etc in a certain place as a set rule then the school takes the responsability in making sure those area's are secure when the pupil cannot.
my twins school spend money like its going out of fashion, so i dont think funding is a problem for stationary and replacement bag when my twins school can afford a 47 inch external TV come notice board, a multi activity area, outdoor classrooms, climbing frames, new fencing, sophisticated multi cctv systems, and an audio system fit for a foo fighters gig.0
