I have been I comet Hull to buy an Apple wireless keyboard - £70 reduced to £54, 20% off not bad i thought. Until I checked what everywhere else was selling it for and to my disappointment Apple had the exact model for £57, pc world £56 and staple £48!!! With selling practices like this it's no surprise they've gone bust =(

I bought it for £50 from Comet.
  • I went to our local today, had some Intempo headphones, half price, £20. 'Wonder if they're any good' I thought, looked themup on Amazon, £10!. Probably not then. Came out with some half price printer carts though, they ended up cheaper than the supermarkets were selling them for.

Carlisle has lots of cookers left, a lot of Beko white goods and Electra (which is now a Comet own brand) slimline dishwashers and lots of display model fridge freezers including some fairly good prices on American style ones.

Most prices are still beatable elsewhere, although people seem to have fallen for the 'apparent' bargains and cleared most things out.

I saw a dishwasher in Comet last week with 30% off. It was STILL £20 cheaper next door in Currys at their NORMAL price (and they aren't known for being cheap either!).

Comet was always very expensive imo, and on top of that terrible service. Its fine paying a little extra than online prices if you get service aka John Lewis. No shock comet went under.
  • Last day of trading for all remaining stores today.

I specifically checked the list on the comet website, which included the nearby Manchester Fort store and gave it's opening times as up until 8pm. So, on the off-chance, I popped over there. Turned up about 2.45, and shutters were half down, "store closed" signs up, and staff pulling the place to pieces. No stock to speak of visible from the window, bar one possible basket marked "everything £1".. just lots of paper and debris..

I wasn't expecting to find anything worth having, but it would have been nice to have had the chance to look, especially as I checked the store details before heading out.
