Need advice -- TalkTalk

Okay, so here's the story....

We moved house mid February. Were under contract with TalkTalk in last house, so had to get it transferred to the new house... But because the broadband SUCKS, we requested just the phone deal. We were on the Talk 3 International plan, and actually didn't mind the phone deal that much, but the broadband was horrendously bad. I was told repeatedly that this would be fine, that we would just have the phone deal, and that the broadband would not be connected to my account. In the meantime we were getting details of our "go live date", and were told on the phone that no, it would NOT be connected... Yet I was also told I'd need a MAC code to get a new broadband provider... And I blindly accepted this and requested one... I was told 5 days, and it didn't arrive, so I requested another. This happened 5 times over the next 5 weeks, until finally I got an email telling me I didn't NEED a MAC code as it wasn't connected!

So. I then went about signing up for Madasafish. They contacted me at the end of last week to tell me there was a problem, so I have spent the last 4 days on the phone to Talk Talk AGAIN. After being fobbed off repeatedly from one person to another (I think I have spoken to at least 6 individuals in the last 24 hours alone), I finally got talking to some guy from the "options department" who was getting really @rsey with me...

And basically it's like this. They've messed up (surprise) and connected the broadband. But if I want it disconnected, I will have to get the phone deal disconnected also, and pay the £70 for the pleasure. The broadband is currently live on our account, but we do not want it! We do not even want to TRY it!

What are we to do here? Basically they have screwed us over big style. And we have Madasafish waiting patiently to connect us. And due to the fact that we don't exactly have £70 lying about and don't want to lose our phone number yet again, we don't really want to just cancel... Though I would love to be well shot of Talk Talk, but I have to consider the other 3 people I share with, and what they want.

I have had correspondence with him, he allocates someone to speak to you. However, I am still having ongoing problems with Talk Talk, even though I no longer use them. Let them take you to court ... KEEP ALL CORRESPONDENCE AND USE RECORDED DELIVERY. IF YOU MANAGE TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE ON THE PHONE, GET THEIR NAME AND ASK IF THE CALL IS BEING RECORDED.

I would LOVE a day in court with them, they haven't got a leg to stand on. And the laugh is, ever noticed when you are on hold (for hours), the background music is "We have got to get it together", lol. Are they taking the p**s or what?
Thanks for this I did receive a phone call from one of his underlings but by this time I had used the tel. number quoted by Wrenboy and sorted everything out in 5 mins. I hope your problems are soon resolved to your satisfaction. I am sure you are one of many who would like there day in court but lets hope it doesn't come to it. Good luck
  • Hehe! I HAVE noticed their hold music, lol! :rotfl:

We FINALLY got talking to someone yesterday evening who FINALLY gave us some answers...

Apparently what has happened is that someone has messed up there in two points... Firstly, someone took the liberty of "upgrading" our account from the BT to the TalkTalk exchange (or something?) and then secondly, someone added the broadband when we specifically requested that they didn't. So because its on the TT exchange, this basically means if we want rid of the broadband, we have to get rid of the phone deal as well... Or we keep the phone deal but get a new phone number (because effectively they'll open a new account for us or something)...

So! Cutting a long story short. We had to ring BT and ask them to take us back... And TT are "kindly" waiving the disconnection fee as it was their fault. (They said we could then be connected back to the TT phone deal, but no thanks, I think we'll maybe RUN at this point!) But due to it being on a TT exchange, it'll take BT about 3 weeks to get this sorted, so we'll STILL not get online until mid May... which, considering we moved house mid FEBRUARY, is all a bit ridiculous, really!

But, we'll be free of them anyway, in a few weeks. Which is the main thing!

    hi guys,
i have recently joined talk talk.... 29.99 per month all in.
however, they did say on the phone to me that soon i might be able to recieve free broadband when they have bought the rights to the BT lines in my area, making it £19.99
what is the likleyhood of this actually happening?
  • It is likely. I have the free Talk Talk broadband. And have not had any problems with it.

Hey, my first posting....I'm on a mission for me poor ole boyf who's tearing his hair out over Talk Talk. He's been with them since last year, all pretty ok, occasional loss of internet. But last month his phone, and therefore, course internet, was down for over a week. He was told they're updating the exchange, and normal services, blah, blah.....So back on line after some really frustrating, (you know the score) and time consuming calls listening to "we can work it out". Phew. However, he's been cut off for the last week again, and his general mood is not good!
I can't find the mentioned posting by Sunflower (feb/march), or the useful number provided by Gertie. Can any one help with this please?

I have the free Talk Talk broadband. And have not had any problems with it.

But a large proportion of their customers have.
