The recommend an android app thread
Options
With the popularity of Android on mobile phones and tablets and the plethora of apps now available, how about a thread with our most useful apps, preferably free what with this being a money saving website
I'll start with AntTek App Manager.....https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anttek.am&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5hbnR0ZWsuYW0iXQ..
once you've rooted your phone it allows you to choose which apps you want to keep and 'freeze' those you don't want or don't need such as the provider bloatware that comes with most phones.
Android is all about customising so where better to start.

Well my no.1 favourite is ES File Explorer (totally free) ultra powerful file explorer lets me see and perform file functions all the way from the root folders of my phone seamlessly across my home network (via wifi) to be able to access the files stored on my Network Drive (NAS) - no more usb cable for me. I can play music or movies straight off the network drive without needing to copy to the phone even. Could access folders on your PC if you set them to be shared. If the phone is rooted you can use it to effortlessly remove system apps or add ones, fix things and so on.0

Whats on my Homescreen?
At the top
Don't like the ICS toggle widget, no mobile data switch.. I am using Power Toggles (free) lets you pick which item you want on it from a big choice, you can create different ones for different pages and configure the colours of everything and change the icons to ones that mean most to you.
next down...
Smooth Calendar widget, easy to see what you doing today or next at a glance without taking up all the screen.
next down...
Battery Watcher Widget, accurate readout, WiFi Manager brilliant quick scan to see what wifi signals are around and connect up, Opera Mobile - the best browser all you need.
next down..
ES File Explorer see above, Keepass Droid - this is a free encrypted safe you can keep all your passwords and private details in so even if your phone is stolen the data is locked away. There are free version of the program for all computers such as PC's and you can copy the encrypted file to all of them and they can all open it using your set master password.
Quickpic - free better image and media browser than the one built in, quick and powerful

In ICS you can drag the fixed icons to the bin and drag icons for you own apps in their place. I have replaced the dialler with an icon for Xphone Pro a far better dialler. Its only a couple of quid for the pro version, it has a better contact list built in.
Next to it..I have replaced the stock SMS app with Pansi SMS (free) that is more like a traditional sms system but fully configurable and has a choice of themes to download.
In a lot of cases I use Icon changer free (with extra downloaded icon packs) to create a home screen icon with an icon of my choice for apps.0 -
One I came across recently which I've found to be useful is TVCatchUp.
Doesn't quite do what it says on the tin, but does let you see Freeview channels which are currently being broadcast - not what I expected.
Needless to say (but I'm going to anyway...)
If you are on a limited data contract, you will need to keep an eye on usage.0 -

Potentially a great app if it works for you. Sadly last time I tried it on my phone (G300 on ICS) it wouldn't show any video, just audio0 -
