I have a JSA Sanction. Question?

Hi I have had a sanction letter, asking me to write my reason for the charge and return it to the job centre for a decision maker etc.

Needless to say I've filled out the form with my reason and I'm gutted because I've been totally stitched up over something.

Basically I want to ask since the date of the job being posted out to me and me not applying was before Oct 22nd, will I be sanctioned for 4 weeks or the new 13 weeks? I'm thinking surely it will be 4 weeks because the crime they say i've done was several weeks before this and dated as such on my letter, but obviously the actual sanction letter is dated this week. So does it go on the date of the offence or date of the proceedings starting?

I tend to think negatively as nothing ever goes well. so I just know they'll say I'm being done for the 13 weeker rather than the 4. because it's now after 22nd october, even though my alleged offence was weeks before this.

I am a single man with no kids and live in my mums house. I know i won't be entitled to any kind of hardship because i am a single man and have no official rent to pay other than a small amount of keep to my mum.

I have problems regarding employment not due to personality or effort but for general technicalities and experience. I struggle to gain work because my work history is patchy and poor, i'm bright but unfortunately i didn't decide what i wanted to do as a youth so i have no qualifications, no convictions or anything like that but i am not allowed to work with finances or pass credit checks due to a SLC issue i have, and ontop of all that i have no solid referees to call on. I survive entirely on jsa at the moment.

i was stressed and depressed anyway before this letter arrived. so some year this has capped off to be. I am well and truly #~~~ed, and i know it. I can make it through 4 weeks with no money, but for 13 i don't know how i will manage. part of me wants me to have no income so i can just say screw it and give up on it all. and mark my life down to experience!! hopefully fingers crossed i gain employment soon to avoid having no income but it'd be a miracle.

thanks

So why didnt you apply for the job that was posted to you.

Nothing will go right for you if youre not expecting it to, so you end up not bothering. If you dont bother, things go wrong.

You need to be thinking a bit more positively, youre starting a temp. job soon, that has gone right for you, so its a start.
Why do you think the JC has stiched you up.

  • Not definitely starting the temp job (so i edited it out) just meant i've been in the running for one and i'm hopeful. Don't really want to get into the charge and what i did or didn't do, as I'm not guilty of it for a few reasons, but not sure they'll believe me as it's just my word against the job centre. I'm just asking will I be sanctioned on the 4 week or the 13 week given my alleged offence was weeks before this but that the actual charge is from this week?

Has anyone any experience of this yet? I'll certainly appeal it if I am given 13 weeks due to the fact i've been stitched up and that what happened was ages before the new rules.

If you didnt apply for the job they posted to you then it is your fault.
No excuses unless the job centre sent you to a wrong address or a wrong time.

It really is as simple as that so I dont see how you can say you are not at fault.

If you want free money from the government, you have to do as youre told as to how to get it.

No one can tell you how long your sanction will be, it will be up to a decision maker at the JC/DWP.

Good luck in getting a job.

In what way have you been stiched up.....

If you dont want to give details no one can give you a meaningful answer.

The mention of 'crime' and 'proceedings' in the original post doesnt help.

If you failed to apply for the job under the'old' sanction regime your sanction could be up to 26 weeks.
  • Put on your game face and apply for Toys R Us...they are still taking on. If you are friendly and can manage to be polite you should be OK

  • I was told by a jobcentre professional that there was a misunderstanding on my jobseeker agreement and in this instance I didn't need to apply. Is it still my fault?

I know I am innocent. But due to the fact it's little me vs them, and the fact it would be typical of my life, I am resigned to losing the case, at least pre-appeal.

not for a 1st offence on my charge it wasn't. it was 4 weeks.

I hate children and I'm about 30 with no retail experience. I wouldn't be hired. Spending time to apply for it would be wasting good time I can use to apply for jobs i can actually get hired in. That's not me discounting the job, I'm just stating a fact.
