You do get a lift when you have a breast reduction. In fact when they are first done they are extremely high, then after a few months they become a little lower and after a few years they sag a bit which looks very natural. Before my op mine were down to my waist - now they don't reach my elbow.
I was quite weak after the op - had to have a blood transfusion - and don't think I could have coped with a tummy tuck at the same time. You are putting your body through a lot and being strapped up top and bottom would be a lot to cope with (unless you are very young and fit).
I took before, during and after photos of my boobs for the first year and couldn't believe the changes. (I stood in front of a mirror and took them). I think they are still on the BHO site.
Good luck margaretclare, you won't regret it.0 -
Lolly 5648 - I hadnt thought about breasts sagging again due to age I thought it would be a natural process over about ten years, bit like a face lift. It sounded as though the surgeon was suggesting to MargaretClare that they could drop quiite quickly. I am 66 so maybe no point - could you give a rough indication of how old you were when you had yours done as your breasts seem to have done quite well!
Am fit and could cope with two ops in one I think although a surgeon may think differently - its partly cost and partly getting it past family - one op seems an easier sell! I had both feet operated on at once and thats quite unusual!!
Anyway willl see its all a bit pie in the sky at the moment havent quite made up my mind as we are mooving house and the first thing is to see how the money goes!0 -
Moneylover: I was 60 when I had mine done. I don't know what size you are but because you will be so much smaller there isn't a lot to sag. I actually think the drop looks more natural now and in keeping with my age (and certainly not as saggy as some of the same size ones I see in the gym!).
One of the things I said to my surgeon at a check up was that my tummy had got bigger - he said it wasn't bigger, just that it was more noticeable because my boobs weren't hiding it.
I am so pleased I had mine done and wish I had had it done earlier. It is wonderful being able to buy nice tops and looking smart, not frumpy. I still have the grooves in my shoulders from bra straps though.0 -

I have an appointment for pre-admission with the cosmetic surgery nurse this afternoon, but will ring her when she comes on duty at 1 pm. I'm not at all sure - in fact I'm not sure at all - that I'll be fit to be anaesthetised this Saturday and may have to reorganise the whole thing. I've paid for it!! This is the second week of this nasty cold and no sign of it getting better, when DH had it it lasted for 3 weeks.
My stepdaughter goes in tomorrow for her tummy-tuck.
I think you should be really careful about having the op if you still have a cold. I had an op, it was an emergency so not able to delay it, and my cold made the recovery a nightmare. Coughing and sneezing when you have stitches is not pleasant and one extra big sneeze and I burst my stitches, agony! My op was abdominal so maybe that was worse but I would delay it if you aren't sure but perhaps it depends how keen you are to get it over with.Sell £1500

Poor MargaretClare....colds can be so nasty - hopefully they will want to assess you... am sure Jan/Feb not a busy month my husband saw a consultant in private hospital (springfield, Chelmsford) for hernia yesterday and consultant said any Wed in Feb - and that was NHS!
So hope you feel better soon as yu have worked v hard to be ready for this op - expect stress isnt helping if you dont knowif yu are well enough. Good luck.
And all the best to your stepdaughter who so deserves her op afterlosing all that weight - will be interesting to hear what her recovery time from tummy tuck is although I know its just excess skin0 -

I only told two people when I had my BR. Whenever I had mentioned I would like one, people either said I didn't need it or that I was too old. They didn't understand about the pendulous breasts, backache and soreness under the breasts. I hid my size well with minimisers. The only people I could talk to were strangers on a forum who were incredibly supportive - especially the ones who had the op the same week.
After the op no-one noticed any difference at all. I didn't even get any have you lost weight comments. But I did it for me; I no longer have backache and can exercise easier and wear fitted tops instead of loose ones.
You will never regret having it.0 -
fingers crossed, MargaretClare!0

The hospital doesn't want the viruses spreading around in any case! I'm still psyched up for whenever it goes ahead.
I think you are right, they won't want to take any risks and it is a major operation. If they do cancel of course you will disappointed but hopefully it wouldn't be for too long. Your cold really does sound nasty, I hope it gets better very soon.
If they do go ahead then good luck and happy healing

BR surgery re-scheduled for Friday 22nd February. No further cost, I've paid for everything already and it's not my fault that I'm not well enough. Just get over this nasty cold now!Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

so just over a month to wait, not too long and you will have a bit more time to get a bit fitter once your cold is gone.0
