Actually bit more on topic - Is there such a thing as cheap PAYG data sim?

I would rarely use it off Wi-fi but it would be good to have access to 3G when i go to my Mums - certainly not worth a contract sim though

If I could get PAYG sim with 1/2 gig data on it, that would be ideal - then I would definitely buy a 3G tablet

You can get 0.5 Gig per month for tablets free from Ovivo

I got the Sammy tab 2 7" on the deal listed above. Love it, superbly put together. £119 net after cash back (they even chuck in an 8gb card with the cash back). BUT if you have an XBox 360 AND an Amex card you can get it for £85 net!

I notice the Sammy has microSD slot - can it be expanded to 32 GB?
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

Can I tether a std (non-3G) tablet to my mobile for the odd occasion or is this just ridiculous?

I tether my HTC Wildfire to my non-3G tablet to do just this. Depends on whether your mobile contract allows tethering (or whether they will notice - different topic entirely)

I changed my mind - the Sammy offer is too good to miss - not bothered about 3G

but Galaxy 10" can be got for £238 - £50 so I'm dithering about whether to go for that instead

someone either talk me into it or out of it

7" portability & price vs 10" larger screen?????????

    It can.
So 37gb in total (there's 5gb useable internal). My son has an iPad 3 and it's gorgeous but I prefer the portability of my Sammy 7 tbh (it fits in Mrs MBSs handbag!!). Swings and roundabouts.

PS I believe there are apps that 'mask' tethering as well.

PPS Be aware though at the moment you can't transfer apps from internal storage to SD card on the Sammy so that may be a deal breaker?
  • I have a sammy galaxy tab 8.9. Only problem I have with it is that it sometimes freezes and the web page closes. Great screen and very fast. Still trying to find a cover for it.

I've been out and bought the 10" today. Very nice bit of kit.
Do a bit of wheeler dealering at PC World, and get case thrown in. They're selling it in store for £269. I got it this afternoon at this price, they threw in a £30 case for free, so that I could still claim their £30 quid cashback (their deal - buy tablet and case over £200 and claim £30), plus the £50 back from Samsung. Pleased with the deal as I got the case for the equivalent of £2 (based on CPW price less £50 Samsung cashback - without a case).
I'm sure I could have got them to match the CPW price and then tried to haggle for a case etc., but to be honest they were genuinely quite confused about the whole cashback situation.
Anyway - got it at a price I'm happy with.

I had one of the first Samsung tabs. When it came to updates etc Samsung where useless I think my tab only got updated once, never again for tablets now I have the nexus and I like it. Especially with the latest update I can now have my account on it and a second one for the wife although she's hardly used it but its good to keep the two separate she downloads some useless apps.
