Windows download errors.

At what point is it failing, is the download failing or is it gong wrong when you run the installer?

It's failing at the update stage.

So when you run the installer it fires up, progresses as normal then fails when it actually applies the driver update?

John - No it does not seem to complete the update.
Have also lost aero effects on desktop.

In desperation and trying to solve my problem I ran Belarc Analysis - you should consider trying it - and it came up with ''Local Systems Accounts - Administrator is a disabled account.''
I think that this may be part of my problem.
Where do I find Local Systems Accounts to enable?

Sorry for the delay in replying, I'm not sure what's going on with your system and I'm a bit wary of making many more drastic suggestions in case you end up in a worst state. Normally if I'm having trouble installing the graphics card drive and control panel I take the existing ones off and reinstall from scratch but if you get this wrong, you'll end up with no graphics card driver at all.

I think Belarc is wrong or out of date in this case, the Administrator account should be disabled because if it is enabled with a default password (XP had a default administrator account with a blank password which was a security disaster) then it means malware can get full control of your system when it is running from a non-administrative account.

Johnmcl7 - Hi you seem to be my mentor.. I play the occasional game of Solitaire whilst I am waiting for a download to complete.
This evening I was met with ''The game is running in software rendering mode (ie Latin to me)
Hardware accelerator is either disabled or not supported by you video card which could slow game performance.
Make sure you have the latest video card driver installed and that hardware accelerator is on.

Does this info give any clues?
