Where on earth do you get the idea that Allstate NI pays by the hour? The centre in Strabane may well do so, but the main IT part of the business doesn't. I submit that you have no idea what you're talking about.

I guess the point I was trying to make is that the entry level salary of £15k is relatively low and works out at just about £7 p/h.

    Interesting.
I imagine if you had IT experience then you would get more than 15 000 a year. There is also Citibank if you're after cold hard cash.

The entry level salary of course would be given to those with little or no experience, and usually not even an IT degree.

IT - if you don't have the right experience you will get paid entry level. It is also worth noting that this is quite a stressed job these days, several companies are running at bare min staff levels to save money.

IT degrees are not always all that useful, you need real world programming experience and a lot of IT grads find themselves excluded after failing the basic, pre-interview, tests.

All that said, there are jobs in the sector and if you do have experience, then it cannot hurt to look into it.
    Always overestimating...

Fair point, I was basing this on a friend of mine who works for the company and is on 15k, however he does not have a degree or any real formal IT qualification with the exception of a GCSE and prior to entering the company he would have had no IT experience.

I guess the point I was making and quite badly I might add but for a challenging role, based in Belfast for someone with a degree and experience; 15k would be on the low side.

For having one GCSE in I.T. he's doing quite well on 15k.

    Hi All,

I just want to thank everyone thus far who has taken the time to either post information here or who has sent me a PM regarding job oppertunities. If anyone is aware of others whether they be within the IT field or perhaps more business orientated or even Insurance which where I'm coming from; I'd really appreciate it.

Isn't that a Bridge to Employment post though?

It could be, I never asked him.

What is the average starting salaries for IT roles in Belfast - kets just say for graduates? I would have thought 22k+.
