Redundant on 30/11/12 - what can I claim, and when please?

Hi, I suspect the obvious answer is NOW or ASAP, but just thought I'd post on here.
It is my last day at work on Friday 30th November, as our team has been decommissioned and we are being made redundant as part of the local council's budget cuts.
What am I entitled to claim please. how/where and any other advice would also be greatly appreciated.
I am single and live in a rented council flat. I already get single person discount off my council tax.
Do I out in a claiming for housing benefit and council tax benefit with the council (doh), but what about signing on?
I have been luck and worked full time for the last 10 1/2 years so am petrified at signing on again.
I believe you can apply for benefits / JSA online instead of going to the job centre (on Monday 3rd Dec for me
) then they phone you up and ask you to go in?
What type of benefits can I get please?
Sorry for the questions, like I said, I have been fortunate enough to have had a job, but am now being let go and am panicing about what I am entitled to.
(as well as feeling sick to the stomach at being out of work).
Thank you for reading, please help.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Is this redundancy money counted as "savings"?
Will try this calculator:
https://www.gov.uk/benefits-adviser
...but do I fill it in as if I am now out of work with nothing coming in, rather than fill it in now while I am still working for the next fortnight?.0 -
This is crazy.
If I fill it in as not working, with no income, you have to put down redundancy money.
I also put down what my council tax yearly bill is, and put what the full weekly rent of my flat is, while putting I get no other benefits.
It says:
Weekly income £154.84 (!!!!!!?)
Weekly outgoings £96.50
Income minus outgoings = £58.34
You may be able to claim the following benefit(s), which we have estimated for you:
Housing benefit £74.14 pw
Council Tax benefit £9.70 pw (that's only £38.80 per month)
Jobseekers Allowance (contribution based) £71.00 pw
Total weekly income £154.84 a week
Eh?

£71+£9.70+£74.14 = £154.84 a week.
And obviously you will have your redundancy money until you find another job.SPC #1813

Thanks, so right now, at the moment (while working) I pay full rent = £83 a week
Council tax = £62 a month (single person discount)
When I am out of work on 1st December, I will get £74.14 H/B a week. Do I have to pay the £8.86 a week difference then?
Same for council tax. Will I have to make up the £23.20 per month myself?
I thought if you were out of work, you got full housing benefit and full council tax discount?
Excuse my dunce hat, it's very stressful.0 -

Not necessarily. It depends on your age and how much your rent is.
Yes you will have to make up the difference.SPC #1813

As you live in a council flat, you should get your full rent paid, although from April 2013 the bedroom tax may affect your claim if you have more than one bedroom. Your council tax should also be covered in full.
Presuming that you are over 25 (being in work for over 10 years) you will get JSA of £71 per week + rent + council tax. Although this may be affected by your redundancy payment, I am not sure if redundancy payments count towards capital.0 -
