Knock on the front door. Pops head round.

'Good morning - have you ever wondered about God's plan for your life?'

'Actually I'm planning on staying naked behind this door.'

    Pause.

    'Have a nice day.'

I set aside today out of my holiday, at DH's request, to take his 18 year old daughter into town clothes shopping. She and I agreed yesterday we would be there and back by lunchtime. I've been up for 6 hours; she got up (briefly), went back to bed and is still asleep. So hacked off. I'm not waking her up - I'm going to get on with the rest of my planned day (sorting pension paperwork), and she can go shopping on her own if she wants. Anyway it's looking like a NSD today as a consequence.

It's spoiled my whole week actually - I'd planned to do all my spring cleaning. I love her dearly and she's a very sweet girl, but this was supposed to be my 'me week' to have lots of time on my own and get over my people-overload before going back to work fulltime and study next week. She's turned up for 4 days (kept me waiting all day yesterday because she had coffee with friends instead of arriving on time), and her Dad sat on his laptop all last night and barely spoke to either of us. I feel like I can't get on with anything.

She's still asleep (to be fair she's been working like a demon through panto season so is probably exhausted) and there's no way I'm going up into town this afternoon - we'd have to fight our way back in rush hour on the Tube and my back's not up to it. Not giving up tomorrow or Friday - I have plans for those days and she was dithering about meeting friends anyway.

Really unimpressed that DH woke me at 5.30 this morning; I'm making him sleep on the sofa tonight so I can try and get a full night's sleep. There's a spare bed in the middle bedroom but the room is unusable because it's full of his rubbish; I can just about pick a 18" path to the freezer. Gosh I'm grumpy around people. I feel like setting fire to the whole place and going out for a walk!

  • Hi Tig, sounds like you really need some quiet time. It's difficult with families I know. Maybe DH will clear the spare room :)

    Best wishes Tilly

    On a probability scale of 1-10, that's about minus 1,000 ;) But it's a nice pipe-dream :)

It Lives! It has arisen from the pit after 14 hours (that's 3 nights sleep for me) ... and is going shopping alone at some point, just not today. I've been doing paperwork and spreadsheet stuff - had a productive morning, just not in the way I'd planned.

Lurvly - remember this when your sproglet reaches its teenage years ;)
