Thanks thats what I should have said.
The relevant legislation clearly states "On a road" so the OP has not committed an offence.0 -
I think it goes 50/50 in car parks.0

The wording is 'on a road' - s.105, The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986. So it would not cover the incident on a garage forecourt.0 -

no it doesnt.
if someone going 50mph in asda and slammed into the back of you would you accept 50/50?
i doubt very much you will.
same on any garage forcourt. if someone slammed into the back of you or drove into your door squeezing through like a bully who cant wait for a second for you to move off then it their fault.0 -

Another fine example of someone posting a serious question hoping to get a genuine response and for the most part all they get is a range of wild opinions by people who know nothing at all about the subject matter. The OP may as well just ask some random bloke in a pub.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

That's forums for you
For what it's worth, I though if the front of the car hit the door then it's the cars fault but if the door hits the side of the car then it's the door openers fault0 -
A friend was involved in a minor collision this morning. Her car was stationary and another car hit her door when she opened it. Happily no one was hurt and the car only has minor damage but was wondering if anyone could tel me who was responsible in this situation?
I assume your friend pulled up at the first available pump (thus leaving the one in front empty/blocked) and the other driver charged past (in anger) rather quickly?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Nope, she was at the one in front, although why this should make a difference I don't know. Is it ok now to drive recklessly if another driver has made you angry?
The staff in the garage had time to notice the car drive towards her and comment that 'she's going to hit that car'. Her door had been opened for a few seconds before the collision.0 -

In that case friend should be OK and other person 'should' end up with 100% of the blame, especially as you have independant witnesses0
