re-bottling a product?

errata
I asked if i would be able to do this! my thoughts at first would be to contact a manufacturer of a product to ask if they would supply me with the materials of a product that interested me buy of them in bulk and re-lable that product as a completely different product and sell to a different market all together!
That was my first thoughts but dont think i will be able to do that!.....................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

You betcha won't. Why on earth do you think a commercial organisation would give you information about a product it makes a lot of money with?
Well you know what!after having a look around the product i am talking about is sold in plenty of different places and with own name labels, now are there different manufacturers of this product? or one who will make it for you to sell with your own label?
By that i mean look at b&q/asda/tesco etc: for instance and the many products they sell all with their own label!
now b&q/asda/teco etc: dont manufacture their own stuff do they!
Example for you Asda Own Branded Motor Oil, Castrol make it for asda ,(well they did do) but it's not the best of the barrel , still a good price ....0 -
Asda and Castrol will have a contract that agrees Castrol can be sold as an Asda product.
Morrsons and Waitrose spag bol may be made by the same producer but to slightly different recipes, and by contract with the producer sold as own label......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

If you start re-selling a product for a different use to which it was originally designed, then hazardous or not, you will still need to create an MSDS (manufacturers safety data sheet) which must be available to anyone who requests it.
A product may contain many chemicals in its make-up. They will have been thoroughly tested for use in the product sector they are being sold into to make sure there are no nasty reactions should they come into contact with other products in the same sector. If you go and use the product in a sector that is different, can you guarantee that there will be no issues should the product come into contact with another ?.
For instance, hair shampoo will have been tested against reactions to soap and shower gel as it is likely to come into contact with them should you wash your hair whilst having a shower/bath. However, if you use it to wash you car and it reacts with the polish and your paint flakes-off, then that is tough. The product was not designed for washing cars, so it wasn't tested against car polish for reactions.
If you have found an alternative use for a product, then well done, but if you re-sell it under a new name for a new use and it reacts with another product and causes injury or damage, then it is you who gets sued, not the original manufacturer. Are you prepared to take that risk.0 -

Yes thanks am well aware of the above! i know its not straight forward the product will not be coming into contact with any other product that it is not coming into contact now! if you knew what the product was you would understand exactly what it is i mean!0 -
Fair enough, but I didn't get the impression the OP planned to print on the bottle labels eg 'This is Coca Cola but I'm selling it as lavatory cleaner because it cleans lavs'?
Actually I'd try toxic too, but it's got to be something which works better than Domestos, denture tablets, and Harpic toilet bombs etc etc etc.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
If it IS lavatory cleaner, please send me a PM as I could do with something non-toxic to attack mine with.
