I got the email too - decided to check MSE before calling the OH - glad I did now! Very disappointing - I know it's probably just a simple mistake, but still - way to get everyone's hopes up!

It's clearly a simple mistake.
I wouldn't go in too hard on them or they might just simply stop offering such competitions.

As much as I feel for you all who got excited because you never seen this thread, I feel for the woman who made the mistake. For all you know it might have been someone who just started or someone having an off day that made this mistake. Imagine it was your own son or daughter or husband/wife who's just having an offday and your about to string them up for it. If i was that person i'd be scared for my job right now and that's not right. You started off the day without the holiday and you've lost nothing, please let it go and admit that people do make mistakes. For all the people who say they're out of work and this would have been a pickme up etc this is no excuse to complain to get a pot of gel or something which could lead to someone else being in your situation.
