  • Hi,

There are a couple of other things that happen. Your solicitor will also have questions for your vendors, their solicitor (and if a leasehold property the leaseholder). Has your solicitor had these questions answered?

When you say everyone else in the chain is ready to exchange, how do you know this? If it is because of what the estate agent has told you I would take that with the European salt mountain.

When I bought my house as soon as I had my mortgage offer I was being badgered by the EA telling me that everyone else is ready to exchange and that I am holding the whole chain up. At this point my solicitor still had outstanding questions that had not been answered to his satisfaction. He also told me that as far as he was aware there were two people in the chain still awaiting their mortgage offer so the rest of the chain was not ready to exchange.

After a couple of weeks of being hassled by the EA that my solicitor's "unnecessary" questions were holding the whole chain up, I received a very sheepish call from her telling me that someone else in the chain had their mortgage application rejected.
