Halifax ISA Saver Direct

  • No, I didn't want to access my money just yet, just wanted to know that the facility was there if and when I do want to get at it. Not much use if you can't get through on the phones and even worse when you see that the ISA itself is not set up to transfer money out directly to my High St bank account. Have now opened a web saver (I did not want another account) but by doing this I will be able to transfer my money out of the ISA, into the web saver and transfer from there to my High St account - complicated, eh? Easy access cash ISA? I am not so sure.

The halifax products are great when you have a set of them (Websaver, Reg Saver, Instant access - for the cashcard, credit card, ISA!) and the online service is good - just dont ask the staff to explain how anything will work. You will get better advice here!

I find Halifax fine. I have current accounts, web saver account, regular saver account (paying a whopping 7%) and ISA. I noticed yesterday when they sent me a booklet on rates that my ISA which I opened last year was paying 4.15% but the ISA direct pay 5.15%. I rang today to ask if I can upgrade to the ISA direct and it was done in minutes - no problem. The current balance is transferred in and I can add another £3k this year. Lovely man also confirmed I could operate it online.

Ive got a lot with em too! They just need to improve their staff training a bit - product knowledge is weak. However this is because they like to have innovative products like the 'Regular saver', and the 'cashback current account' and they dont tell the branch staff much.

I will probably go for the ISA saver direct myself - 5.35% with abbey wont be around for long with a new account replacing it at 4.9% (even if you still get the old rate if you open this month - it wont last IMO)

The knowledge of agency staff is worse - they usually refer me to a branch about six miles away!

And select the option that says "I'd like to open a new account" (rather than "I'd like to shout at you about my money you're already looking after) They always seem to pick the first line up quicker!

I have one of these (ISA direct 5.15%)

With the predicted downturn in UK interest rate I am thinking of the 4 year 5.7% fixed deal - good idea? and will halifax transfer the product for me?

I have a Halifax ISA direct that I opened, and can access, online. I started with a websaver several years back (when that account had the best rate going - and I think its still pretty good??!) then I opened different websaver accounts for various savings eg. holiday money etc. I find it really good as you can transfer instantly online between accounts. I then set up a regular saver as it has a fantastic interest rate, and then I set up my ISA.

No problems whatsover on this end :j

Same thoughts myself, remember you can not add to it at a later date so works best if you transfer previous years in at the start

Im looking at opening a Halifax ISA saver direct but have no products currently with the Halifax.

Do you think it is worth me opening a savings account with them aswell so that i can get access to my ISA easier? (in the horrible event that i need to make a withdrawal)

I already have my current and e-savings accounts with the Natwest.
